haha made ya look!! Well as i have said before, you all are a great bunch... whenever i have a question i automatically come on here... .but one thing that I have not seen discussed or compared on here is LABOR stories... Mine started on Wed January 6th when i noticed that I was bleeding (i was 33.5 weeks at this point) i freaked out and went to the hospital, they admitted me right away and began to investigate what was going on... i was still bleeding and no one told me what was going on, the gave me a stress test and i was having contractions but not feeling them.. they went to take me upstairs and when i got out of the bed to get into the wheelchair my water broke, but because i was bleeding it was bright red. They ended up transfering me to another hospital because they thought i was going to have her pretty quick and there was not room for her there in the SCN. I laid in the hospital, feeling somewhat mild contractions until friday when the contractions all of a sudden got worse. They did a stress test (one more of many) and the contractions were not registering so they told me it was just cramps. at about 3:30am saturday the 8th the pain was getting intense and i was getting scared because i was all alone (my mom and dad were at home and i am a single parent <no spouse>) i got up and walked to the nurses station and complained about the pain... the one nurse told me again that it was just cramps and that she would get a warm blanket to put on my tummy... the other nurse suggested that i go upstairs to get checked.. at 4am i was in a wheelchair headed upstairs to check dialation... at 4:20 they checked me and i was 9 CENTEMETERS!!! little miss Cayleigh was born at 5:01am, and my parents walked in at 5:02am!!!!! So it sucked being all by myself... but the outcome was SOOOO worth it!!! Oh yeah, and the reason why i started bleeding was because my placenta had separated from the uterine wall..... share your story with everyone!!!!

Mine is by induction, didn't have to guess if i was really in labour. My placenta was showing signs of aging.. how could it be?? I was only at 37weeks 5days. on apr 24(8pm), my kid brother had a high fever 39deg C. WE rushed to our local women and children hospital to have a doc treat him. My induction was scheduled on 25th and i was to go in at 6am. Turns out my bro kept getting referred to different doctor in diff parts of the hospital and I spent the whole night walking and walking. It was already 4am when i got back.. with only 2 hrs more to get to the other hospital!! Bad choice to go, I shld have stayed home!! Needless to say, I was exhausted, but too anxious/excited to sleep. At 7 i was in the delivery suite with my husband settling the admin stuff. at 7.30, the nurses pretty much set me up-enema, shave, change, etc. And at 8 my doc came to set up my pitocin drip. turns out i was already 2 cm dilated. had antibiotics shot(for group B strep), water bag broken by doctor(funny no water came out!! he said it was not a good sign.), and had a foetal monitor and a ctg strapped on my belly(how uncomfortable i was!). Turns out i was already having contractions since early the day before, so when the pit started, i was having BAD contractions with high at abt 120 on the monitor! when the contractions were fluctuating that hurt the most. So there it was, i was in pain like this until 11am. One thing i really surprised myself was how calm i was, consciously breathing to relax. then at 11am, this nurse came in and asked if i'd like an epidural, then a anesthetist asked me the same question too, i said no. nurse went out, as if offended. then came in again. she said induction is longer than i think it takes. she said that on average, i would probably only start pushing at 3pm( she didn't even check my dilation. said something of infection). wow.. that's 4 hours more!! and if I didn't have the epi by 12 the anesthetist was going home(was that possible??!!) . Then everything went really painful, (i was holding my breath during contraction unconciously.. why did i do that??) And i tensed up even more and the more painful the pain was. viscious cycle!! so i said ok i want the epi after just 15 mins!! How disappointed in myself i was. at 11.15am the anesthetist came in and told me she knew i was going to ask for one(??!!) said not to fight the pain, was unnecessary, blah blah blah. i did as told and she numbed the area, put the catheter in and pulled it out, put it in again(she had 2 attempts!! poor me).. at that time, i was facing my husband and he looks angry(why? Was the anesthetist, i found out later..). epidural in and anesthetist went out.. still the pain... it seem to me the pain is worse... but now i was alone in the room with hubby(he's tired, sleep deprived and worried, the poor honey!) and i could relax, or at least i tried to. still the pain and now at 11.45, a lot of pressure(i thought: I can't be in transition now, can i? should still hav 3 hours) te contractions had a peak and a trough, the rectal pressure on the othe hand is just there. at 11.50 (i think), i hurt so much i pressed the nurse call b___ton and a sister came in (thank god not the nurse who attended to me earlier. i like this one more! yah!). she told me to relax andthat the epi shld start taking effect any time now. but it didn't and i started using the gas to ease my pain. funny how the gas worked but the epi didn't. this sister checked me and i WAS fully dilated. called the doctor and (YES!!) i was allowed to push. The pressure eased, my doctor came, found the epi to not work on me, gave me a regional for the episiotomy i was to have and in 10mins(12.29pm) my baby boy is out! The aging placenta came out easily. i didn't feel it. my baby was being cleaned up, i had my 3rd deg tear and episiotomy st_tched up. I was so happy! yay i am a mother now i thought.

I was due May 19th and this all started on May 7th. I went to work Saturday morning. After about a half a day there my feet were really really swollen. I called my doctor and he told me to go home and put them up for about an hour or so and then call back. I did that and called him back to tell him they were still swollen. He told me to come on to L&D to get checked. We went in, they hooked me up to a fetal monitor to check the baby (I hadn't dialated at all) They took urine samples and blood samples and everything. They said it all looked ok but my doctor wanted me to stay to watch the baby. He also wanted me to start a 24 hour urine culture to check for preeclampsia. That started at 2:30 am. We just sat around the hospital all the next day (me catching my pee) and then once the 24 hours were up, they sent it to the lab to be checked. My doctor told me that if there was any chance at all that there was something in it that he would go ahead and induce b/c he knew I was miserable (I felt HUGE) They checked it and there was slight elevation so he decided to induce. They started pitocin at 7am. Contractions were really bad. I couldnt have an epidural until I was at least 3 cm. We went all day and I finally got to three and they asked if I wanted one and I said I knew it would slow down labor so if there was anything else they could give me I would like that. They gave me some medicine that just made me sleep (cant think of what it was called) I could still feel contractions but was sleeping through them. At about 6:30 my doctor came in and checked me and said I was 6cm but the baby had not dropped AT ALL. He recommended we do a c-section. I was like OK lets get this over with. So they brought in a wheel chair and took me to the c-section room. They gave Chris (Amaya's daddy) scrubs and a face mask to put on. The anesthesiologist came in and gave my spinal block. They laid me down and Chris was sitting by me. At 6:50pm on May 9th Amaya Jayne was born. She was BEAUTIFUL. I had a very fast recovery. We went home 2 days later. I have a very faint scar now (stretch marks are worse than the scar) That is my story and its hard to believe that it has been almost 11 weeks since she was born. MY BABY IS GROWING UP!!!

Mine started om May 30th but I didn't know. I had been having Braxton hicks cont. since I was four months so the ones that I was feeling on that day were no different. At about midnight I went to bed and tried to get some sleep. At 2:19am I had the most horrible cramp that I have ever felt. Then I had another one at 2:27am. at first I thought it was time but then I got this feeling that I had to go to the bathroom. (#2) So I put the cramps off as poop cramps. Well, as I was sitting on the toilet the contractions continued but they hurt so bad that it took me a little while to get off the tiolet. At 3:50 I woke my husband up and told him it was time to go. We got to the birthing center at 4:45 and they admitted me at 5:20. When they checked me I was 7 cm!!! I got my epidural around 6:00 and at 8:40 It was time to push. 20 minutes later my son was born. He was born May 31st at 9:00am. 7lbs 8oz, 19 3/4 inches. I only had one tear on the right side and no episotomy. When I told my other pregnant friends of my experience, they kind of expected theirs to go similar to mine. Nope! One of them was in labor for 19 hours and pushed for an hour and a half and got a third degree episiotomy. The other was induced. She got fully dilated, pushed for 2 hours and ended up with a c-section. All of our children were born within weeks of eachother.
