Okay this is a long one Tuedsay last week daughter got 4 month shots everything went well no reaction but doc told me to start rice cereal so I did on wed then Thursday night she had a fever and a red spotty rash on her face, her fever got worse so i took her to ER they said It didn't look like anything and that It was probably a virus, she hasn't been eating as well either.I asked the doc about allergy to cereal and he said not likely because it should have showed but within hours of eating the cereal.Anyway the Mondaybefore she went swimming with us in a friends pool do you think maybe it was the pool were she picked up the virus?? I stopped giving her the cereal for now till she gets back to normal then I'll try it again if she breaks out then I guess it's the cereal but do they usually get a fever with food allergy?The Doc in Er wasn't very helpful he said the rash looked like heat rash but she had very red face with spots and some on her ears a few other places but mostly her head and face area.our house is very cool so I don't know just getting fustrated not knowing what it is .Today she's better but spots are still coming and going.Any help or ideals would be great

I would ask your peditrician. Have you called them. I don't think it was from the pool. Might have been a virus, but who knows. You are doing all the right steps though. Hold off on the food til the rash goes away.

could be a mild vaccine reaction or from the cereal. they tell you to wait 4 days before giving new foods, so the doc who told you it would be within hours is wrong.

I agree with kh, doctors usually make you wait three days each to try different foods I guess because over those days, using the same food, you would know if the baby was allergic. Maybe since your baby had a fever, she was hot and developed the rash then. I would think the virus was from her shots or something else. My son had heat rash...and it wasn't pretty. I just gave him a lot of luke warm baths. It was because he was hot and it also was because of his clothes rubbing and whatnot. I hope the rash and fever go away!! Good luck.

Going today to see my Doc my girl is now pulling her ear and rubbing her eye and this am noticed that her eye is weepy and very red.I'll feel better when I see my Doc shealways very good and looks her over great.
