Holding The Baby

Ever since my son was born, I have had a reallly tough time letting people hold him...hes almost 10 months now too. When my mother in-law gets her hands on him she goes into an other room with him...I trust her but why does she feel the need to do this? She is the nicest lady but when I'm at one of their parties, it's like she hovers over my son and I get really uncomfortable. I know this is her first grandchild (we visit my in-laws almost every week) but it's so hard to give him up when she asks to hold him 24-7. With my side of the family, it's a bit easier (mainly because I can be open with them) BUT I still have to be around to keep watch. It's not like I don't trust family also. I just like to be where I can see my son...I have to love him up while hes still young and can't run away from me yet haha. What should I do when this happens?? I get the worst anxiety when we visit family.

I guess you just have to try and get used to it. My Mum has just become a Grandmother for the first time and I'm seeing a side of her I never have before. Even my partners Mum has 5 grandkids already and still gets excited to see and hold our baby. I think it must be an amazing feeling to know that here is a bunch of people that would not exist without you having existed. This grandchild is quarter your mother in laws genes, and it's her first. Don't stress, they cherish our babies as much as we do.

I'm glad someone feels the same way as I do.

I get so annoyed when my mother in law holds my baby. This is her first grandchild but it drives me nuts. She is so "rough", pats her back WAY too hard and I just don't like the way she holds her. I have to leave the room when she does!!
