My 4 month old is eating about 40oz of formula a day 7-8 oz at a time anywhere between 3-4 hours although she sleeps through the night 8 hours or so I'm wondering if I should try her with some rice cereal at supper time and maybe mid morning she seems to be hungry more now and the stretch inbetween is less than before. She can sit up with assistance has great control of her head and neck,as well as always putting things in her mouth.I don't see the doc for a few weeks to ask yet but I thought I might try her.Anyone have any thoughts???

If you do, I would start by adding the rice to the milk first... 1 tsp per 2 ounces of formula (per my pediatrician). This way, it will be less of a shock to your babies system. Your baby may have difficulty digesting rice without the usual volume of milk she is used to. We used rice cereal in the first month to decrease our son's reflux, which was causing his nose to be stuffy and mucousy a lot. Four months is reasonable although they recommend waiting till they are six months. But, it's up to you:)

It is up to you, if your baby likes it then go ahead. But always feed milk to your baby before giving her food as milk is still the most important food for yoru bub
