I am no longer "with" my baby's father but we both agreed to RAISE this baby together ONLY I'm having some issues concerning my baby's LAST name. <~ I'd like for her to KEEP mine but he will be claiming her on income tax and paying an out of court monthly child support so do I HAVE to put his name on the BIRTH CERTIFICATE? Can I add it later or will it be COSTLY?

I think you can give your baby your last name and still have his name on the certificate. Is that what you wanted to know? My daughters last name is mine but her fathers name is on the registration.

How can she have your last name and still have his on the certificate, will it interfere with enrolling her in school or him having full parental rights?

I think HELP is a bit confused on birth certificates there is a space for the father. No having his name on the BC even if the baby and him dont share a last name doesnt interfere with enrolling in school. Not naming him on the BC may cause him to have to prove paternity later to exercise his paternal rights.

Why don't you want your child to have his name??Even if your not together he's still the father.

I'm not "ready" to put his name on the birth certificate because I don't trust him 110% to be there, so far things are great but Men will be MEN and I don't want it to be painful later as far as HAVING to EXPLAIN too soon why the last name is different- Plus, we are not married, probably never will be so WHATS wrong with a baby keeping her MATERNAL name?

Understandable

There's a space for father's name on the birth certificate. In some places (texas for sure) if you're not married to the baby's father he has to sign something saying he is the father, before you can put his name on the birth certificate.

Question? - July 31

I need help. See when my baby was born on the day we had to turn in the birth certificate sheets my bf wasnt there. So they gave me this packet to send after a certain date to get birth certificate. I wrote on the paper both me and my bf's info. When i received the birth certificate it only had my info and no info of the fathers? Who do I contact?

To Question - July 31

You would nned to contact which ever depatment handles BC in your state or province. Where I live you have to pay to change info on the BC EVEN if they goofed. Supposedly you verified the info, so they are going charge you for changes.
