my 8 month old recently started to love her pacifier. she hated it until now. she always finds it and puts it in her mouth. she doesnt have teeth yet so i'm not too concern. should i take it away from her, she is so much happier and plays by herself when she has it. does this makes me a bad mom?

I keep hoping my son will take a liking to his paci. He just needs something to make him more content and I think he would be less cranky if he learned to suck on one. There are no indications that a paci will have any detriment to her teeth. A lot of babies need to suck to soothe. My baby is really a fussy guy, even now at 4 mos he is over his colic, but I truly wish he would take one. It certainly doesn't make you a bad mom. I would let her have it if it makes her feel better.

I was against pacifiers before Matt was born, but now I think they're fine. Rachael is right, babies just need to suck. Some more than others. I think you should be happy that your daughter likes her pacifier. Good luck!

I use one with my guy and did with my other children, it is fine. Babies do need to suck and because I am not nursing (lactose intolerance) with this baby I use his suckie.

I've read that pacifiers help to prevent SIDS. My daughter won't use a pacifier, though, unless I hold it in her mouth.
