I saw this on the news this morning also. I didn't catch WHY the baby was thrown though. Did they have a reason?

They showed that on the news over here! How awful to have to make the decision to throw your baby out of a window! Lucky that guy was a good catcher! If I'd been standing at the bottom of that building, I would have missed that baby for sure! I'm so glad they're ok.

I saw it on t.v. this morning as well. It turns out the man that caught the baby was or is a catcher for a baseball team, so definitly he was meant to be there at that time. wasn't the baby only 3 weeks old? I am glad they are alright.

I saw it too this morning...there was a fire and the mother couldn't fit out the window bc they had safety bars on them...so she threw her baby out to this guy -who is the superintendent of the building- the firemen got the mother out ok and they are both doing well...they interviewed the guy this morning on CNN....I just couldn't believe it!!! OMG...makes my heart stop to see that. The baby is just 2 WEEKS OLD! Thank God everyone's ok......

Yeah that happened right here in NY. It was in all of our papers. The baby was 1mo old. It had to get mouth to mouth resuscitation, but was released from the hospital in stable condition.

Another sad fire story.... 2 girls (4&6) died in a house fire here yesterday. The parents left to go to work, and the neighbor upstairs was supposed to watch the sleeping girls. She couldn't get them out after a fire started. Very sad day for the parents and family, especially right before Christmas.

You honestly mean they left their 4 and 6 yr. old children alone and went to work? I'm not sure I consider a neighbor in an upstairs (apartment?) as a decent supervisor. It's sad... those children should have been woken up and taken upstairs to the neighbor, or she should have come downstairs to where the kids were sleeping. What a tradegy to have to endure!
