Newborn Sleeps Sitting Up Concerns?

I know its not safe to surround the baby with blankets but it seems that the only way my baby will fall asleep is if she is sitting up. My newborn is only 3weeks old and everytime she sleeps laying on her back in the crib she throws up. I noticed that if i put blankets around her and position her sitting up she sleeps well and doesnt throw up anymore. Im concern about her Spine?? If she sleeps sitting up can this mess up her spine?
