I see a lot of people say that another kid turned out fine... I am trying to figure out what the universal definition for that is. Two arms, two legs? What does "turning out fine" mean to you? For me, it means a whole lot of stuff and I can't begin to judge whether my baby turned out fine:) I'll know, in say, twenty years??

I agree with the axe murderer, republican one, possibly not a drug addict as well. With so many of them in my family, I worry about Lucas!

What I really wanted to get at, and I should have just said it, is that one person's idea of fine may not reflect the next person's idea. Women on this site use the term TOF like there is actually some consensus on what it means and one can base their decisions on someone elses opinion of who turned out fine.... There are a few people I know who think their kids turned out fine, but if they asked me what I thought. Well, ho ho ho, I would say they did not turn out so fine afterall.

I've heard the term TOF most when people are saying that they did this or that with the baby that doesn't fit the "rules" of today- like feeding solids before 4 months or letting them tummy sleep.

Soooo.... Its a bit of a nutcracker when you are debating topics, as unbiased as possible but still trying to stick with facts, studies, and current literature, and Suzie HighSchool pops in to spread word of her neigbor's kids TOF.

That is true, like most things, that phrase is subjective.

I think that "turned out fine" is also VERY different when it comes from people in a different generation than yours. The stuff that our parents did with us and consider us turning out fine could get them arrested in todays world.

I say turned out fine, sometimes...as in, my daughter was a preemie, she spent a while in NICU because of breathing trouble and had an operation when she was a few months old, but she turned out fine...by that I mean she doesn't have any more health problems and is growing well. I don't think of it in the long term, because now is what I'm dealing with.
