I broke my tailbone delivering my first child and don't want to have it happen this time around. Has anyone delivered using a birthing chair or stool?

Breaking a tailbone is not very common, but certainly not unheard of. It's usually because of the baby's position or it could be because of previous trauma to that area in the past. It is good practice to get on your hands and knees 10-15 minutes every morning and every evening. This helps the baby move into the best possible position for both of you. You should start this at about 36 weeks. It won't hurt to start sooner. Some women also deliver on their hands and knees or even on their sides. Another great thing in addition to the birthing chair is using a birthing ball. You don't give birth on the ball, but it takes so much pressure off of the back area.
