Ok. Well I am about 4 days away from my due date. I was at the hospital about a week ago with steady contractions. I was dilated to 3 centimeters but wasn't progressing so they sent me home and at my appointment 2 days ago I was still only 3 centimeters. I've been having contractions since December 4th and they have been very steady at times but not at all at other times. Like I said I did have them close enough to go to the hospital. This is my first pregnancy though so I kept it's been hard for me to decifer real contractions from fetal movement from braxton hicks. I felt like all through the last 2 months I was having just fetal movement where my belly would get really tight and stuff but it does it more so on my right side so I thought it was just the baby moving and protruding out more so on one side. Now that I have had real contractions I'm not really sure what to think or how to know when they are real, because when I was at the hospital they said I was definatly having consistent contractions.. and they did hurt pretty bad, but it was like my right side got so much tighter then my left side.
So now that I've been back home for about a week with contractions still I'm so confused on what is a contraction or if it's just her moving because my stomach is rock hard all over except really far to my left side.. so I worry that they aren't contraction, but it hurts bad, and it's just like the ones that I had at the hospital.. So are these real?
I don't know if this is really normal or not so I need some advice, my mom was over one day and she felt my stomache when I thought I was having a contraction and was saying it might be fetal movement since my entire stomach isn't tight, so now that has gotten me confused.
So during a contraction does your entire stomach have to be tight? Don't get me wrong 98% of it gets really really tight to wear it hurts really bad and I can't really move. But I'm worried that it's supposed to be the whole thing!
Help moms! I never went to birthing classes or anything like that so the only stuff I know is what I read on the web. It's just hard to time contractions if I'm confused on when I'm having them! lol
Thanks!

right side pain is also a sign of ecclampsia.. how is your blood pressure?
i also have experienced the pains you're having and it can be extremely hard to tell whats bh or real contractions. i'm 35 weeks with my first baby and i'm just as confused as you are.. when you get the contractions try walking around for a half hour, if they lessen then they are braxton hicks if they stay constant and regular then they are real contractions. you should still be able to feel fetal movement and be able to recognize the difference. good luck to you!
