I am 37 1/2 weeks and at my check up I was 4 to 5 cm dialated I have heard you can be prone to infection after being dialated so much when is it not safe to be walking around

i was 7 1/2 months pregnant and i was dilatated to 2 and didnt have any problems....as far as when its not safe im not sure...u should ask your doctor on that one.

it's fine. infection is more likely after your water breaks. walking is a great idea, it could help speed your labor along when the time comes, just go easy and don't wear yourself out.

Usually after 4-5 cm dialations they will admit you to the hospital...and yes you are more prone to infection as you dialate more...the opening is wider...I would question my doc a lot more about what his/her plans were..good luck
