I am 42 years old, currently 14 weeks pregnant the pregnancy came as a shock and was diagnosed 2 weeks ago. If i decide to keep the baby what are the chances of it being down's? what tests can be carried out to eliminate this suspicion? how safe are they?

Have the test called Maternal Serum Screening which is done at 16 wks gestation. All it involves is a blood test and it is very accurate it tests for Down's and Spinal bifida
