I am 23 weeks pregnant and have been exposed to Fifth Disease. I had the provo test done, we are still wating for the results. I want to know if my baby boy is going to be okay. All the reading I am doing is not doing much for me. I am so worried that I will lose this baby. I son Brandon is ready to become a big brother. We love this baby boy so much, I just want him to be okay. Thank you for any help you can give.

I am 24 weeks pregnant and my entire family (two kids and my husband) developed fifth disease. My son caught it at school. I to had the blood test and was positve but must have had it in childhood because I had the antibodies. Before knowing this, however, I found out that the risk to baby is very little. There is even less risk the farther you are along in pregnancy. There are no indications that it causes birth defects. Most common negative effects are in earlier stages of pregnancy and usually result in miscarriage (and even this risk very low). So I am pretty sure you are past any point where you should be to concerned. Hope no one in your family catches it. It can be a very uncomfortable disease. Childrens Motrin work well for little ones and Advil helped just a little for the big one. Adults seem to suffer a lot more with this, however, my kids have had a lot of joint miscomfort, etc. Best wishes and hope the rest of you prgnancy and delivery goes well.

Make sure that you continue the blood tests, as I tested negative for weeks and then tested positive. Plus, if you test positive, get to a high risk doctor who will monitor things and give ultrasounds.
