Hormones Going Up During Miscarriage

I have had 3 ultrasounds. The last one on was on 9/9/05. They all showed a blighted ovum in the uterus. My hormone levels were also rising very slowly. On 9/9/05, my doctor told me that I'd have a miscarriage and told me to expect heavy bleeding, cramping, and a lot of clots and tissue passing. I started bleeding and cramping on 9/10/05. I've been bleeding for 7 full days now but it's just like a moderate to heavy period. I've had cramps and minimal passing of clots and tissue. The weirdest thing is that when I got my hormone levels checked on 9/12/05, they went up about 800 points in a 5 day period. The doctors don't know why this is happening and are sending me for more bloodwork on 9/19/05. Has anyone had this happen to them? I'm afraid it might be a molar pregnancy. However, it doesn't appear that way in ultrasounds and the MD hasn't mentioned it. I'm also afraid to get a D & C because I almost died two years ago after a minor surgical procedure. PLEASE give me some insight.
Thank you.

I had a blighted ovum-hcg levels were rising just not nearly by enough. The hormones come from the placenta tissue so even though there is no baby they can keep rising. My sac was growing too just nothing was inside it-at least no baby was anyway. (it was far too small as well) I hope they can figure out what is going on it must be horrible not knowing what is happening.

I had a miscarriage in the begining of April and my doc kept checking my levels after a couple weeks they started going up again and he sent me in for another ultrasound. It showed a small piece of tissue that was left unpa__sed so he did a DNC. he told me that with that tissue in there my body still acted pregnant and was producing the hormones. So you could ask them to do another u/s to see if anything is left. I am sorry for your loss it is so hard. As far as the DNC I was very early and it was very quick. Had been bleeding heavily for a month and a few minutes (literally) after the procedure I stopped bleeding. I wish you Good luck
