Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction

Does anyone else out there have SPD? I am 24 weeks into my first pregnancy, and for the past couple of weeks i have been experiencing bad pain in my pubic region when walking (it basically reduces me to limping); pain when turning over in bed; when standing on one leg - like when i'm putting my pants on or taking them off; when i'm getting in or out of the car; and when getting up after sitting! I'm told that this condition occurs because the body produces the hormone 'relaxin' to help soften the ligaments of the pelvis for birth, but in the case of SPD the ligaments have loosened too much, too soon! My OB is not to concerned about it as it is not all that uncommon and he doesn't forsee any probs with delivery! Anyone else experiencing this? I'd love to hear from you!

yes..i have had this since 18 weeks. i have been referred to an ostepopath who has been great so far! be sure that your midwife/doctor is aware during labour as you can damage yourself by moving your legs too far apart during pushing. are you wearing a 'bump support'? mine is invaluable..as are my antenatal pilates cla__ses which specialise in exercises to help. it's horrid isn't it hun!
