Hello, ladies! Hope all is well. Alexia is doing great. And I'm doing well with school and all. Shelly, how is everything? Tami, told ya you'd be busy!

LM - October 30

Has anyone found a good diet to follow?

Amanda - November 1

LM, I cannot eat anything spicy. I can handle chocolate and carbs. Pretty much anything that is against Atkins. If I eat Chinese food or Greasy food, I get very sick. Good luck.

Tammi - November 2

Cutting back on all fried foods!! relly helps!! but you have to totally eliminate them from you diet!!

Shelly - November 2

Basically if it taste good you CAN'T have it.No spices.no fatty and NO FRIED.I've been eating bagels, grilled meat no pepper, pasta, lean hamburger meat, salad NO DRESSING, low fat yoghurt, sugar free fat free icecream,if i want to eat something outdoors Arby's roastbeef NO SAUCE, Quizno's or subway, watch what kind.I snack on TRISCUITS crackers,of course the lowfat kind, sometimes i put some swiss cheese on it.If you are very sick go on a 3 day clear liquids diet:7-up,sprite;water,sierra mist, chicken broth, maybe some white bread.Let me know if you want more ideas.I should have mine removed sometime this month and i can't wait.Tami,Amanda how are you ladies doing? Jesse is growing like aweed.Updated pictures arein the "about me" on http://jesse2monthsold.piczo.com Tami,i will e-mail you today or tomorrow!!

Thanks for you help... it's so hard to deal with the pain some days. Just when you find a food you think your body is responding well to you take a turn for the worst. The pain in my back and ribs can be so overwhelming.

Lm - November 2

Shelly, I'm 24 weeks pregnant.. did you go full term with your baby. The surgeon would like me to try to go full term and have the operation after my son is born. Did you have a similar situation? Thanks!

Shelly - November 3

Hey LM;sorry to hear you are doing so bad.I discovered about my gallstones when i was 16 weeks pregnant and went to 2 surgeons for their advice.I decided to go full term, and i really don't know what to advice you.I know it is pretty safe to do it in your second trimester, which you are right on time.In a way i don't have any regrets b/c there is a risk to the baby, but then again the rest of my pregnancy was horrible.I really suffered and was on meds.I had to be induced at 39 weeks so i wouldn't have a gallstone attack while going into labor, but i did have an attack at the beginning of my inducing, ended up being 36 hours in labor and ended up with a c-section.With a v____al delivery a could have had my gallbladder taken out after 2 weeks, but with the c-section its taking longer. My son is now 13 weeks old and i am still waiting to get the date for surgery. They are trying to schedule me for this month. The pain got worse as i was more pregnant especially with the baby kicking against the gallbladder.I thought after having the baby it would be better but its not.I had a couple weeks ago an attack that lasted exactly a week.If i see how well Tami did with her surgery during pregnancy i would advice to go ahead and do it now.It will get worse.I do not want to scare you but i am just telling you out of experience. You can go through our old postings and see how it all went. And i know how it is,you do think you found something that you can eat and the next time it gives you the attack from hell.I can advice you if it hurts take a hot shower and rotate your chest and back.it worked and works for me.Let me know what else i can do for you.If you want to you can e-mail me at sichelle1976@yahoo.com and i have a website for my son;its http://jessesallaboutme.piczo.com ,good luck and let me know.

Wow! I can't believe how busy I have been! Amanda, you are right! Congratulations on your good grades by the way. I was always way excited to get an A. Doesn't it make you feel good? So how is everything else going? I'm sure you have been pretty busy. What was your little girl for Halloween? I will have to email you some more pictures soon. The website is still not quite up yet-no time! My grandpa had a stroke so I have been visiting him every day at the hospital an hour away, which makes even less time to do stuff. Shelly-Jesse is so cute! I can't believe that he is getting so old-and so big. I look at my little Kailey and just can't believe that she will be six weeks old on Tuesday. I am not sure about her weight, but we measured her the other day and she is 23 inches long! I am not sure where the tallness comes from-I am only 5'3". We are all doing great and finally settling into a routine. Any news on when you get that blasted gall bladder out yet? LM-I was 25 weeks along when I got my gall bladder out. They actually did open surgery and everything went great. I actually recovered pretty quickly as well. I would say that the first week after surgery was pretty tough, but I felt better each day after that-much quicker than I though I would. Just a note-I found out when I was 21 weeks pregnant that I had gallstones, then at 24 or 25 weeks (what can I say, I have a post pregnancy memory right now!), I had an attack so bad that it affected my liver so they had to take it out immediately. After the surgery my pregnancy was much better I would say. I went overdue and now have a beautiful healthy little girl. I know that surgery is very scary during pregnancy-I was terrified, but know that if you end up having it there is a small chance that things will go wrong. I am so sorry to hear what you are going through! I honestly can say I knwo how you feel. Let us know how you are doing!

Shelly and Tami, Thanks for your responses, it’s great to have someone who totally understands what I am experiencing. For the time being I would like to try to wait until after my son is born to have the surgery. The pain seems to flair up every couple of days which lately I have been able to control with extra strength pain killers and gravel. While I was in hospital my gallbladder had affected my liver also. The surgeon would not operate but suggested a restricted diet. Low fat with no red meat. A dietician was supposed to stop by during my stay but did not show up. The hardest part is trying to find foods that will agree with my body, all bran bars, tea biscuits and special k cereal seem to work. Also I tried a fruit salad. The thought of the pain keeps me from trying many foods. My OB wants me to gain weight with the next weigh in, so far I have lost three pounds and feel really guilty that my poor little guy is not getting enough nutrition. It’s so great to hear about your successful deliveries, and that your babies are healthy. That is what I would like to report back in February. One problem that I’ve heard can occur with the removal of your gall bladder is losing control of your bowel. Has anyone else heard the same? If any one has a diet they followed I would really appreciate a copy or suggestions of what to eat and what to avoid. Thanks again for your help!

Amanda - November 10

Shelly, all is well here. I hope all is great with Jesse. They are great, just wait 'til he can move! lol Then all the "pretties" have to go up. It's sooner than you think. Shelly, missed ya girl! Told ya you'd be busy. I honestly don't know how I've managed but... I'm graduating with my a__sociates on Dec. 2nd. Then I have to take finals! How weird is that? lol A's make me feel really good. lol But, I think I have B's in all 4 of my cla__ses. =o( Oh well, I have a BABY! lol Tami, I've found some cute stuff with Noah's Ark! The have the cutest play set at Wal*mart that's cheap, like less than $20, and it has all the animals. I thought of you. LM, you're lucky you found out as soon as you did. I did not find out until my baby was 3 weeks old. The gallstones had began to block my pancreas and I was hours from death! Scary. So, It's a really good idea to have the doctors ultrasound it occasionally, to prevent that happening to you. All I could really eat was those low fat ice cream sandwiches, but if it wanted to come up, it did. I only gained 15 lbs. during pregnancy which means I lost weight because our babies have the abilty to take what they need from our bodies. You're baby will be okay. They are called little miracles for more than 1 reason. After the surgery food literally goes right through me. I take Nulev to stop my bowel from contracting on it's own. But I now call my bathroom "the office." I eat SmartOnes for most of my meals, but still have that problem. They can be on the spicy side, but I have to lose some weight. I think the person who can give you the best advice is Tami, because she's done it during pregnancy. And Shelly because she still suffers. Bless her heart! Good luck LM!

Shelly - November 11

Hi ladies, how are you all doing? I have FANTASTIC news...... my surgery is this tuesday 11/15 @11:00 AM.I can't wait to have that thing out of me!!! It has only gotten worse,i amtaking at least 3 painpills a day,and i HATE taking pills.I am also taking my reglan 3 times a day.It sad when you are almost excited to have surgery, but after all this suffering ....i am just happy to go back and enjoy life again.I have moments that i don't have an attack biut it just hurts, and its hard to pick up an almost 14 pound baby, when side, chest and back is hurting.LM,really don't want to talk you into anything,i didn't do surgery during pregnancy b/.c my second opinion surgeon adviced me to wait, and i was terrified to do anything to put a risk on my baby, but Tami did great, and all those pills i had to take ....i don't think that was that great either, besides i had alot of pain and it has only gotten worse, even aftyer having the baby,i had to be induced to avoid an attack during labor and still had one,and then ended up withc-section,which that took longer to have my surgery.Stress also triggers the stones. If you are not sure you may want to try a second opinion.I don't like hearingthat your liver has been affected either!!!! Once again,do not want to talk you into anything, but i think if i would have known all this i would have done it in my second trimester, when the risk is very small. You are always at risk ,so really think about it,and whatever you decide,we are here to help you and you can just "vent".I have had moods that i was just "desperate" especially in my last wekksof pregnancy, when surgery is not really an option anymore.Good luck and i will try to make a list of what i eat!!!! I'll get back with that one soon...promise. Amanda,i am very proud of you,you are doing great in school and taking great care of your baby, you got my respect girl!!!!!

Tami - November 19

Amanda-I haven't heard from you in awhile! hope everythign is going great. I am sure you are probably way busy with school. It always seemed that this was the time of year that the professors piled everything on! how are you doing? Getting excited for Christmas break? LM-how are you feeling? Hope you are managing with those icky stones. Let us know! Just want to let you both know that Shelly did great with her surgery. She had sand in her gall bladder instead of stones, which is apparently more painful-Yuck! Anyways, let us know how you are both doing and I will talk to you later!

Louisa - November 22

Hi Tami, Glad to hear Shelly's surgery went well. Hopefully she will heal nicely. When you had a gallbladder attack while throwing up did you ever loose bladder control. This is the problem I'm having. Boy, I used to think sneezing was bad. Which is worse to clean up. Please tell me my bladder will go back to normal after I give birth. The pain can be so unreal at times. Finally made it to the third trimester so I guess not too far to go now. Let me know how you are making out/
