Gallstones During Pregnancy

Hello ladies, I am officially back to work. I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on 11-16-05 8 lbs 13 ozs. Yes, a very big baby! I had been on bed rest since august due to my surgery that sent me into pre-term labor. After being put on bed rest I kind of became a hermit and didnt want to talk to anyone. but my baby is healthy and actually had to be induced because she was late. Go figure, after having pre-term labor and a lot of contractions she would stop after I got off of my meds.

hello again, Im kinda bored so I decided to post again. Katie, I'm sorry about all your pain. I would advise you to slow down. I had surgery in my 20 week of pregnancy and had my gallbladder removed through laser surgery and only took one week off from work because I had only been at the job for a couple of months. At the end of my sixth month I started having contractions and had to be on bed rest and countless numbers of medications. It was hard because I have a very active four year old little girl and a very messy husband that spends a lot of time at work. I basically lived in labor for the next four months, I was constantly having contractions and going to the hospital not to mention all the shots I got to stop labor. I got to the point when sometimes I would not even feel them and a normal trip to the doctor ended up with more shots and another hospital stay. My doctor determined that my pre-term labor was probably caused by my surgery. I have been off of work since August 18. I will not even talk about my labor or recovery because that is still a painful and ugly subject. I hope everyone is feeling better and eventhough I had so much drama. My little one is healthy and so beautiful and worth all the pain and tears.

Hey ladies! I am so sorry that I have disappeared from here for so long! I have been without internet and thinking I was going to DIE! lol, I am addicted I know! I want to wish you all Happy New Year and to congratulate Amanda congrats on GRADUATING college! :) Rachel, I have been reading your story and I am so sorry about what you are going through. Pregnancy is tough enough but to have gallstones AND your mom pa__sing has got to be awful. I can relate to both-except my mom didn't die during pregnancy. She died two weeks before my 14th birthday of b___st cancer after she fought it for two years. It was horrible seeing her in so much pain, yet still wanting to fight and live so she could be with us. I am sorry for what you are going through. How have you been feeling with the attacks lately? I hope I haven't missed anything becuase I read through all the posts to catch up so fast. Oh by the way, I LOVE the name Savannah. It is actually what we considered naming my girl for awhile although we decided on Kailey. Katie, so sorry to hear your troubles! You must be very stressed. I would also advise you to SLOW down. Sometimes you just need to take it easy and take some time off to relieve stress. I had surgery at 25 weeks for my gall bladder (open surgery) and contracted then, but they stopped my labor. At 34 weeks I started contracting again and they put me on antibiotics due to a UTI and they also said it was probably becuase of the surgery as well. I contracted all the way up until they induced me when I was OVERDUE! Now I have a beautiful healthy three month old girl who is just adorable as can be! You will make it. Shelly and I decided that these tough pregnancies of ours sure produce gorgeous babies! ANNA-Welcome back!!! We were worried about you when you disappeared. I am so happy to hear the everything is alright. Conratulations on having a baby girl! Hey, contracting for weeks on end is awful-I wasn't as bad as you, but I started at 34 weeks non stop and they wouldn't induce me utnil I was overdue becuase somethign to do with not wanting me to have a c-sectino since I was a first time mom. My labor was pretty awful too. Funny how some women can't catch a break eh? So, do you have a website so we can see some pictures of your gorgeous girl? And your other one of course! What did you name her? My beautiful little girl was born on September 27 and she was 7 pounds 14 ounces (i thought she was big!) You don't know how happy I am to hear that you and baby are both healthy! Well, I'd better go to bed, but I HAD to answer everyone now that I got internet! I will read more and reply later to everyone. Anna-so glad you are back!!

Hello Ladies! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! So, I'm a little late, but you'll take it anyway. Tami, I told you you'd be busy girl! lol How's everything? Shelly, I'm proud of how often you come on here to help others. Bless your heart! Christmas was pretty good this year, it was Alexia's first so that was really sweet. Her birthday was on the 30th and I spent the WHOLE day decorating and running errands, by the time the party started I was exausted! A little hint to you girls: Chuckie Cheese! lol Our Happy New Year has been short. Seth, my husband, is in the Air Force and had to leave for Germany for 4 months! He left yesterday(1-5-05) and I moved in with MY PARENTS today! (1-6-05)!!!! Pray for me girls! lol Other than that, I'm surviving. My stomach seems to be getting better now that I've got my AA. I made a resoultion to stress less this year, so far... I've been pretty good! lol Talk to you ladies later!

Hi, I am so relieved to find this website. I am 25 weeks and have had several gallbladder attacks. i was just released from the hospital on Friday, and I have had an attack everyday since. It's such a painfull experience, I am not sure that I can make it through this pregnancy. My surgeon said he would like to wait 4-6 more weeks but that sounds like the worst time to do it from reading everyones post. Should I be recommending that they do it now? I do not want to have an attack during pregnacy or after I have the baby. Help!!!

Tami - January 8

Amanda-yep I am pretty busy! Kailey has a slight cold right now, so I am even busier! I am glad that you had a great Christmas. Ours was pretty good-and Kailey was sure spoiled! Not just by us, but by her grandparents of course-well we did our fair share of spoiling! :) My new years eve, I was sick so it wasn't too great! I just count my blessings that I have only been sick once this year. okay, I am talkign about winter season not this year-obviously! Courtney-if they are doing surgery during pregnancy, the best time for that is right now during the second trimester. I had surgery and went full term with a halthy baby girl. I am so sorry to hear what you are going through! It is awful-they foudn mine at 20 weeks and I went till 25 weeks before they did surgery. Come on here anytime if you need support! Let us know how things are going, and get a second opinion!

Amanda - January 9

Tami, I'm sorry to hear about the colds. Alexia has been getting the sniffles too. But, I try to head that off with Tylenol. You think your Christmas was crazy? My daughter has 5 grandparents and 2 great grandparents. PLUS she turned a year old 5 days later. We had to rent a U-Haul to get everything home. Just kidding. It was crazy. It took us a week of opening presents. She was so tired by her birthday that her dad and I had to open them for her. lol I hope you and Kailey get to feeling much better. Good luck.

Louisa - January 9

Hi Ladies, I have a quick question (still at work :( ) Was any one induced early due to their gallbladder attacks? Lately the pain is more intense, six more weeks of this seems like a lifetime! I hope everyone is hanging in there that are still having attacks or recovering from surgery. Hopefully we all will be able to report how great we all feel soon. Take care.

Tami - January 10

Not much time to type right now-Kailey is waking up! I just wanted to write and tell Louisa real fast that Shelly was induced early due to the attacks!

Hello ladies, I named my little one Emily Alyssa. I have not set up a website for my girls yet but will soon. I can't believe how much she has grown. She is already wearing 6-9 months and she is only 7 weeks. I never have babies, just give birth to toddlers. Her sister is a big help she loves to watch her and always wants to look at her eyes, but she is jealous at times. My nightmare is not over my doctor just called and I have had another abnormal pap smear and I will have to have a biopsy with this one. Lets hope, all goes well and I have no cancerous cells. Well hope everyone is doing ok, and taking it slow, although everyone with babies can't, I understand.

Tami - January 11

omg Anna-I am so sorry to hear that! Keep us updated and we will pray that it is normal right? That's crazy that your little Emily is in 6-9 month clothes! Kailey is 3 1/2 months old and still in 0-3 months clothes and size one diapers! I guess my babies will just be small. I was only 5 pounds when I was born on time and my husband was only seven-so she topped both of us-lol. :) Please keep us updated on that pap smear! How is everyone else doing?

Shelly - January 11

I only got one minute...Anna,I so happy to hear from you....I had one abnormal paps during pregnancy and the last 2 came out normal, now i may have an ovarian cyst,we will see,I am sick of doctors, tests, hospitals etc.Keep us updated and don't wait 10 years!!! Tami, my inlaws are coming friday so I probably will not have too much "computer time". Give Kailey a big kiss from me.Oh and jesse is in 6-9 and some of it in 9-12.He caught up real fast,Anna, Jesse was 6.7 at birth and he is now 5 months and 2 days (who is counting) and weighs 17.4 pounds.Louisa, I got induced at 39 weeks so they could monitor me while having attacks and being in labor. I did not want to go sooner b/c the longer the baby stays in the womb the better it is.The gallstone pain did get worse at the end but I decided to "tough' it out. With painkillers of course LOL. Rachael, what did your OB say....did he refer you! Please let me know how you are doing and the same for the other ladies. Got to go know!!! Bye

Shelly - January 15

Bump!

Karen - January 15

I am 31 weeks and I had an ultrasound of my gallbladder and I was told that my gallbladder is covered with tons of gallstones. I have attacks almost daily. I have been to the hospital 4 times already. When I have an attack all I can do is cry. I have a 10 month old as well. I am going on 2 years of being pregnant and I am falling apart at my seems. I can't keep any food down and sometimes not even water. The last time that I went to the hospital the doctor was contiplating surgery. I am scheduled for a c-section and I just wish that when that happens I want the doctor to take my gallbladder. Jan. 15, 2006

Anna - January 16

Hello ladies, I hope everyone is doing well. I am sleep deprived as is every new parent not to mention I have to get up at 3am to be at work on time. Karen.. I understand, where you are coming from, I threw up constantly with both my pregnancies. This last one I got even worse and I couldn't keep water down either.. I was constantly getting IV's in the doctor's office. I had it down to an art, surprisingly enough I stopped as soon as my gallbladder was removed. The day after my surgery I no longer needed my morning sickness medicine or anything. Do you have any medicine for the nausea? Shelly , if I had easier pregnancies I would have 2 more, but after this one I am dramatized! I am just so glad she was healthy, that was my main concern during this pregnancy that the surgery and all the meds. would have some affect on the baby. But thank God, everything is ok and she is beautiful and getting bigger everyday. The doctor absolutely loves her because of her size and how well she is developing. My husband is now feeling the pains of having girls, our four year old just told him she has a boyfriend. He had a broken heart for days!

Wendy - January 17

Karen- I was just diagnosed with Gallstones as well this past Sunday and I am 24 weeks along. I went to ER and they did an US and saw a ton of little pebbles (they said it looked like gravel) in my gallbladder but said it was not blocking anything and the stones were very small so I will hopefully make it through my pregnancy without having surgery until afterwards. I am on my 2nd pregnancy (I have a 2 yr. old now) and I had a C-section with my first so I will have another one with this one. I was wondering if you heard anything from your Dr. about if they can do the surgery at the same time they do the C-section? I am HOPING I can get it all done in one shot! I'm so scared of having another attack especially since I am a stay at home Mom and my 2 yr. old depends on me. Hope to hear from you soon. Wendy
