i have a question. how do you know if your iud is falling out? i have never checked my stings before until yesterday and the strings are like an inch or less from the outside. my gyno said that she cut them short. any advice or insight?

Well, I was taking a showre and was washing myself down there and felt something hard sticking out. I pulled on it and it was my IUD. I was so freaked out.

holly, if you dont mind me asking what do you mean by irregular bleeding? i havent had a period since the end of june and i thought i was starting today, but i had one spot of blood and i havent had any more

Holly, I want to know the same thing about the irregular bleeding. I have been thinking, and the last time I can say that I had a "real" period was in June. July was just like a spot. Not even enough to need atampon or pad or anything. I know that my gyno said that 30% of women lose their period altogether within the first year, but I still wonder ya know? I guess i wouldn't mind not having a period, I just don't want to feel the early signs of pregnancy along with it to keep me constantly worrying. That is crazy, having it come out in the shower like that!!

Ok I had a period and 2 weeks later I started bleeding again.. But this is th big on I was 3 days late before my period and the only time I bled is when we had s_x and it was just spotting.. I didnt think any thing about it

Eva - August 16

See, that's me! June was a period, although a little light, July, 2 spots and now, nothing still. I did spot one spot when I checked my string, but that was all. How could a period just completely stop altogether? I mean, I guess it could but it does seem a little weird. I am going to call my GP here in a minute to see what he thinks. I just feel like I have had sore b___sts and fatigue and PMS symptoms for every week but one for about 2 months!! I am getting sick of it!

I would defintley.. It took them two weeks too tell me I was having a miscarriage..I had three ultrasounds and was p__sed you could fry an egg on me.. Its just sad that we try so hard to prevent it and this happens..

I'm so happy I found this board. I've been having some strange activity with my IUD. I had it inserted in Sept. 2004 after losing my baby due to preterm labor and then developing blood clots. My dr. suggested that we wait a while before we try to get pregnant again and we agreed. After my IUD was inserted I continued to have a period for a couple of months (probably due to the blood thinner), then it stopped completely. So I haven't had a period since December, but on last week I started cramping really bad and on Monday, I started spotting. It was a strangest thing. I was so confused. I was suspecting that I may be pregnant, but I'm not sure. The bleeding hasn't been heavy enough to wear a tampon or pad. So, I've been trying to monitor it. I'm not sure what's going on, but I hope I'm not pregnant because we really not ready at this time. Another thing that is a problem is that I was never able to feel my string. I've always had to use a speculum and mirror to check it. That's a pain so I haven't checked it lately. So I don't know if it's still in place or not.

I could never feel my strings either my husband always checked mine. But that doesnt rule out that there something wrong.. My iud was coming out and I didnt know it so comes to tell you ..

Well, I took a pregnancy test last evening, and it came back Negative. I was a little relieved. This morning, I also started to spot some brown colored blood, so who knows, maybe that will be my period. Although my b___sts are not hurting and swollen the way they were before, I keep having this weird tingle go through them, ya know, like what happens when your milk comes down. I don't know though. I did talk to the nurse at my OBGYN this morning and she said that my doc says if I want to I can come in for a check up and sonogram to recheck the placement of my IUD. I told her I would see what happens with this brown stuff. So, Holly if you don't mind me asking, now that you had a miscarraige and no more IUD, what do you think you will do from here?

Holly - August 17

Shew I havent decided they did put me on Yasmin.. But I am really bad at taking pills.. So I was just going to stick with condoms.. They are just as effective as anything else out there and if I do get pregnant at least I will have a healthy pregnancy.. The choices are so hard .. I had the b___st tingling feeling too..

I BECAME PREGNANT WITH AN IUD IN PLACE, HOWEVER IT WAS A TUBAL PREGNANCY, SO IT RESULTED IN MISCARRIAGE. YOU SHOULD CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO THROUGH A MISCARRIAGE

Hi I just want to say that I found out I was pregnant with my IUD Sunday. I automatically went to see my ob/gyn on Monday and found out I am 15 weeks pregnant!!! Tuesday they decided to admit me to the hospital and try to take the IUD out. The doctor took it out in 5 minutes (they gave me several ultrasounds and located it first). I had no bleeding behind it and I stayed there overnight in case I misscarried. They gave me a 50% chance that I could. There was 2 inches between the IUD and the amniotic sac so I have been lucky. So far Im home and have not experience any bleeding at all. The baby looks good. I hope things stay the way they are. I wish the best for all of y'all who are going through this.
