Overly Nervous for No Reason? Hm, as they say - it ain't over till it's over - I'll personally be convinced of a good outcome when i'm holding my newborn in my arms. We all have plenty of reasons to be nervous - and it sounds like you're not a teenager anymore so probably understand the odds better - and frankly, as we age our odds go down. So I can understand why absolutely every expectant mother holds her breath - including me! And lots of people will tell you to relax. How nice for them. Frankly, I worry about the people who DON'T worry. You sound perfectly normal - even though the information you DO have is positive, there's always that chance. The thing i work on the most is relaxing about it as much as possible - que serra, serra - what will be will be. I'm not doing too well on that yet, but I'm still trying ... Gone are my youthful days of "enjoying every minute of my pregnancy" ... like that's realistic ANYWAY (puke).....

Well just to touch base, I had my ultrasound yesterday and we saw the embryo and a very very strong heartbeat. for the first time since I found out I was pregnant I am able to relax. They said everything looked perfectly healthy and that I had NO reasons to worry. They have officially dated me at 6.5 weeks. Sounds right. To everyone out there.. dont give up hope. sometimes it's just too early to see anything. As long as your not bleeding and your HCG levels are doubling consistantly everything should be fine.. however I understand to having the piece of mind when you see your babies heart beat for the first time! lots of luck to everyone else out there!!! <3

Hello, this is my very first time posting. Does anyone know if low but rising HCG levels can produce a healthy baby. My numbers are also off I should be about 8 weeks pregnant. u/s dates me at 6w 2d. My HCG levels are 5152 and baby has a heart rate of 108. HCG only rose an estimate of 970 every 2- 3 days. If anyone has an opinion I'll greatly appreciate it.

1st time posting - At the point of a nervous breakdown. Got a + 1/23 LMP was 1/14 so my dates are all messed up. Had an U/S on Feb.2 and saw a sac no baby 2 weeks later sac still no baby. Decided to wait had u/s Mar.6 which puts me at about 8 wks but the size shows 5 ks 6 days no heartbeat. Can this be normal? Going to the doctor tomorrow will keep you all posted. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I feel relieved to be able to share my feelings with others that are going thru the simular situations. GOD BLESS!!!!

To Espi: Hi, you could very well just be off on your LMP dates. You may not have ovulated exactly when you thought you did, which could mess up your dates. I had my first ultrasound done at 5 weeks 3 days and they saw the gest sac and the yolk sac. Way to early to see the baby/heartbeat, I went back 2 weeks later which put me at exactly 7 weeks and they could see my baby and see the heartbeat!!.. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

To Octobertan: I wish I could offer some kind of advise. I have READ that slow rising levels at times can produce a healthy baby. I know the Dr's like to see the levels at least double every 48 hours. Did the ultrasound lady tell you the babies heart beat was normal and strong for how far along you are? Did your Dr seem concerned about your blood levels?? Please keep us posted on your progress.

Espi - March 10

To Dar: Thank you for your kind words, but it doesn't seem like a happy ending for me. Went to the doctor 3/8 and they repeated my bloodwok. Dr. said anything above 9,000 since I had about 8,000 last time would be great but when I got my results yesterday they were at 1800. The worst thing is that I feel great and according to the doctor I just have to sit and wait for the next couple of days. Monday they will do a repeat u/s, just to be absolutely sure, wednesday i see the doctor and if I have not miscarried naturally yet they will schedule my d&c. It was very difficult at first and it is still hard because i still feel pregnant but everything happens for a reason and I have faith that God will bless my husband and I with another pregnancy and baby soon.

I've been reading your forum and I'm hoping for a happy ending. I had brown blood for a few days than a day of red blood. slight cramping but no really clot. I went to the dr. and they did an ultra sound on a Sat. night with blood work. my levels were in the 1800's. They found a sac but didn't feel it was more than a sac, no baby. That monday I went and had more blood work it came back once again in the 1800's. The doctor had me repeat the blood work a week later and the levels came down to 1300. I did an at home pregnancy test 5 days later and its still coming back positive. During this time me and my partern where having unprotected intercourse. I still feel pregnant. My doctor believes it was a miscarriage. I'm still hopefull, any input?

To Espi: I am sooo sorry for what is happening with your baby... Unfortunately no matter what anyone says--sometimes its' not comforting. However... if at all possible you have to try to find a way to make piece with it and realize it's NOTHING that you did or didn't do. The baby and your body knew something was "wrong" I went through a m/c almost 16 years ago. I was only 17 at the time. I was soooo angry and hurt and blamed everyone for what happened. As time went on I realized that god had a better plan for my unborn baby. I was blessed 2 years later with my daughter who is now 13. Please try to keep faith... and my thoughts are w/you. and good luck for the future..

Dye; you didn't mention how far along you are in your pregnancy. From what I have understood and read. The Dr's like to see the HCG blood levels double every two days. Sometimes even an incease turns into a healthy pregnancy. From what you say, they have remained the same and then dropped slightly. Are you having more blood work done? The pregnancy tests are still coming out positive because there is still alot of the pregnancy hormone in your system. I would continue to have your blood levels monitored by your doctor until they are normal again. I am very sorry for your loss.. Please keep us posted w/your situation.

I'm hoping someone might have some words of encouragement for me. I had ivf. The transfer was Feb. 26. My first blood test on 12 days past transfer showed an hcg of 21. Doctor said he was concerned but not giving up. That concerned me. Second test today (at 4 weeks 1 day and 15 dpt) showed hcg of 92, growing but he said he was still concerned. I couldn't talk to him when he called as I was at work with someone on the other line so not sure what he's so concerned about. It seems the number is more than doubling, quadriupling, in fact, in 3 days. It still seems early to me but can anyone tell me if this is low? My next blood test is Weds, March 15. If all goes according to how it's been going, even if it just doubles, I should have an hcg level of from 200-300 at 17 dpt. Could this still be moving in the right direction or not?

I truly sympathize with everyone one for talking about their experiances. My wife and I are 7 weeks along. Unfortunetly we have had 2 miscarriages in 8 months. We had and U/S done at 5.5 weeks and they couldnt see the heartbeat. We are praying our U/S this friday shows our babies heartbeat. My wife and I have been through alot and truly want this to be the one. Her HCG levels as of last week where over 4,000 although her Progestorone levels where low, doc gave her progestorone pills. (which by the way arent cheap) I would truely appricate any words of encouragement that I could give my wife in case we still dont see anything this friday. I love my wife sooo much and do not like to see her hurting. Please help?

Dar - March 15

To Sam: I am sorry to hear about your previous losses, I can understand how much both you and wife want this baby. I personally had my very first ultra sound at 5 weeks and 3 days, and they didn't see the heart beat. I was told it was too early at that point to see much of anything. My HCG blood levels were 4381 on the day of the ultrasound. Did everything else like the gestational/yolk sac appear normal? Did the u/s tech seem concerned w/anything?I went back for a second ultrasound at 6 weeks and 5 days and at that time we saw our little baby and we saw our babies heart beating at 122 bpm. It could be VERY possible that it was just too soon to see anything. If your wifes blood levels are doubling every 48 hours like they should, and the doctor and u/s tech have no reason for concern.. I would try not to worry And if you still do not see anything on your next ultrasound.. maybe the dates are off? Please let me know how you make out on your next ultrasound.. Your wife is very lucky to have such a supportive/caring husband.

Sam - March 16

Dar... Thanks for the encouragement. I do have some WONDERFUL NEWS. Ofcourse my wife and I could not wait til Friday for the new U/S. We had our doctor schedule us yesterday. Our babys was there!!! Growing and showing great signs of life, 133bpm (close to your) My wife and I could not be more happy right now. Thanks again for all your words. In a couple more months I'll be hoping for another miracle, a Little Girl, to always have a little sample of my beautiful wife.

Dar - March 16

Sam, congratulations to you and to your wife for seeing your new baby and seeing the heartbeat, I know how wondering and reading to much info on line can lead to even more worries and concerns and NOTHING will make it better except seeing your baby and the heartbeat for youself. I am sooo happy that everything worked out for both of you!!!! AGAIN CONGRATULATIONS!!!.. I am due for my next appt on March 29th. HOpefully we'll be able to HEAR the heartbeat--that will be amazing!!!!.. Again congratulations, and please keep me posted on things--if you don't mind!..
