Thanks for asking, Janette. My hcg numbers tripled from Monday (3-13) at 92 to 288 on Wednesday (3-15). So the doctor is satisfied that things are fine. I guess they were worried that I got such a late start, which sometimes means the pregnancy may have been at risk. Often, they said, with ivf patients, they are slow to start. He said my initial hcg of 21 back on March 3, should have been more like 100. So I'm very happy that it's progressing normally now. My first ultrasound is next Wednesday (3-22). Can't wait.

janine,
That is such wonderful news. I am in the same situation. I had three miscarriages in the past year and i am currently pregnant again. Went in on 3/14 for blood and my hcg was only 19 and progesterone 15. the Doctor told me even though im early for my period the numbers still do not look good. But i went in friday 3/17 and my hcg count is 92.5 and progesterone is 34. (im taking supplements for prog). So i pray with all my heart that it will double again on monday...baby dust!!!

Hi to all, I went to the DR last week and was confronted regarding my HCG level of 15,000. The DR said he was able to see a small sac with no visible signs of fetal pole or heartbeat. Dr was very confused and began talking the possibilities of a miscarriage or self-abortion by the body. He also added hope that there was a 1-200 chance of twins since the level was so high for 6-8weeks. I have had no spotting or cramping and he is 95-98 percent certain that I will mis carry the baby. Any advise or similar stories?

Janette, your numbers were almost identical to mine in the beginning. With ivf, I am taking progesterone and estrogen since it's a donor situation. I hope your numbers continue to rise like mine did. Hopefully, you're just slow like I was getting started. I'm feeling constant minor cramping in my stomach so I feel things are still progressing. Sorry to hear about your miscarriages. I will keep my fingers crossed for both of us. Let me know what your numbers are on Monday. Rooting for you!

To Dar: Reading your story makes me feel so much better. This is my first pregnancy and I went for a scan today. We had been told my the GP that I was 7 weeks but the from the scan apparently we are only 5 weeks 3 days. We told that we have either got our dates wrong or the baby has stopped growing. I am so confused, she did not say whether it was alive or not. We have to wait another week until we have another scan. Should we be worried?

Cath: Did they see a gestational sac and a yolk sac during your ultrasound? Did they seem concerned? At 5 week and 3 days like yourself my Dr told me that all that could be seen at that point were those two things and that a few days later they would be able to see the baby and the heartbeat. Do you have any idea what your HCG levels are? I can't believe that your GP didnt give you any more information then that. Waiting is the hardest part. If you are not bleeding, or cramping and your HCG levels are doubling every 48 hours like they are supposed to, I would try to keep as much faith as possible. I was totally worried (mostly because of all the reading that is available on the internet these days) that I totally scared myself into thinking of all the "what if's". I wasn't going to be totally satisfied until I saw my heartbeat and knew that is was normal for as far along they said I was. Part of me is still always a bit nervous. Please keep me posted with how things are with you. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you =-)

Hi this is our first post here. We conceived our first child on on 20 April (we think). The first scan showed just a sack and the hGC levels at what we think is 5 weeks from LMP was 210. My OBYN called to say that I would definitely miscarry and that they would need do a D&C. We were shocked to say the least. Yesterday - beginning of week 6 I did another blood test and the hGC was 617. While this seemed positive to me the Dr is now concerned about an eptopic pregnancy so I'm heading in for another blood test tomorrow. The increase in hGC has made me feel somewhat positive again but my husband was so upset in the weekend that he is reluctant to get his hopes up again. Does anyone know if:
- there are definite tests the hospital can do to confirm an eptopic pregnancy?; and
-if we have any chance of a healthy baby with hCG levels this low.
I have not had any spotting and have mild pregnancy symptions - swollen b___sts, occasional light nausea nd light headaches.
I'll update tomorrow after I get the results back from the third blood test. Thanks for listening.

Hello Everyone-
I am so thankful that I found this website I am also going through a similar situation. I had my first beta on 3/13 and the number was 51. I had another on 3/15 and that was 83. At that time my doctor told me that I would miscarry and to wait until af came and then make an appointment at that time. They wanted me to do another beta before I came in. On 3/20 I had another test and that number was 392. My dr. wants me to come in on Thurs. and have an ultrasound she said my numbers (if they are rising) should be around 1000. I am so confused one minute they tell me I am going to miscarry and the next minute they don't know. I have already had one miscarriage 5 yrs ago and have had several unsuccesful infertility treatments since then. This cycle we concieved naturally. I wish you all the best. Tammi
