Low HCG Level At 7 Weeks

My HCG level at what was supposed to be 6 weeks 1 day was only 98. Then at 7 weeks it was 128 and at 7 weeks 2 days it was 158. My Doctor believes this is a chemical pregnancy, but I have had fatigue, increased urination, sore and tender b___sts, have missed one period (the next one would be due tomorrow) and as of this morning I started having morning sickness and food cravings. I have had no cramping or spotting that would imply my period was about to begin or that a miscarriage was about to happen. So... is there still hope for this pregnancy?

After reading Greg and Shannon's story, I just wanted to add my 2c. My pregnancy last year ended in miscarriage at 10 weeks. I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks and the fetus could be clearly seen, but with no heartbeat. The tech told me he was sorry, but that the pregnancy was not viable. My doctor is someone who would rather let nature take its course whenever possible, so we agreed that we would wait for the fetus to pa__s naturally. It was an agonising 2 weeks as I had so many doubts in my mind... was the doctor wrong? Could the baby be okay? Well, finally the baby pa__sed after 2 weeks and letting nature take its course was the best thing that could have possibly happened. That way, I did not have to rely on doctors opinions and could mourn the loss knowing that it was not meant to be. My advice to anyone who's told early on in the pregnancy to have a D&C due to no heartbeat would be to wait and see what happens. Doctors can be wrong!

Hello everyone Please help me figure this out. I have been crying and hyperventilating all day long. Here is my info My 1st day of my last period was June 13, 2011 and the only day I had s_x that month was 6/28/2011. So I am 7 weeks. I went for ultrasound yesterday and they said it looks to be 5 weeks which is impossible because I know for sure on my dates. So the dr sent me for blood tests and my level came back at 3664 so the dr told me that was low and that he is expecting me to miscarry but he is sending me for blood work again on Wed to see the numbers but he said he is about positive this is not a viable pregnancy. Please tell me what u think please I am so distraught. Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, I really need some advice, My LMP was the 8th of june, i was due to get my next period on the 11th of july, it didnt arrive so i did home preg tests for about a week and all were negative. I went to doctor and he sent me for a u/s on the 22nd of july and they couldnt see anything so we a__sumed i wasnt pregnant. However, on the 31st of july, i got a positive home test which came up straight away and wasnt faint. The doctor confirmed this and told me i was 8weeks pregnant and booked me in for a scan next week, I started getting pain that same day not extremely bad but was only on one side, so i went to ER and they sent me for a scan and did blood tests. The scan showed a small sac which i was told i wasnt as far along as i thought and was under 6weeks. Blood test hcg came back at 1300 and doctor told me they should be at 1500 to 2000 for 7/8weeks and told me that i would most likely miscarry or have a blighted ovum, he gave me little hope and said maybe i might be lucky and could still have a normal pregnancy and booked me in for repeat tests next week. I asked him if i could possibly only be 4-5weeks as i am fairly sure i ovulated 2 days before my period was due, so i didnt think i was 8 weeks. He said i was definatly 8 weeks but how can that be if my hormone levels are low and the sac is only small. I need advice, as i am really upset i was told i would miscarry. does anyone have any advice or stories that could give me hope???

My heart goes out to everyone. I can only share my story and hope that it help someone else to deal with a very difficult situation. At 5 weeks pregnant I went to the ER with bleeding. Ultrasound revealed that there was nothing there, NOTHING. The ER dr sent us home with a "threatened miscarriage" and told us to follow up with our OB/GYN. We were devastated and I told my husband right then that I was giving it over to GOD, putting it in his hands. My dr scheduled and appt for 2 weeks out with an ultrasound. At this appt the ultrasound showed the gestational sac as well as the yolk but no baby, so the dr said she was 90% sure it was a blighted ovum and that I would miscarry. We were scheduled for a week out ultrasound. This ultrasound would have put me at 7 weeks. At the next week which would be 8 weeks, the ultrasound shows baby and hb, very small and hb slow so again we were told to prepare for miscarriage. Again scheduled another week out. We just had the last ultrasound, low and behold, baby and hb still pumping. This time everything measuring on time and hb strong as can be. We still have a ways to go, but to make a long story short, the dr now believes that my dates were off. I know when I ovulated and know when my hubby and I DTD, but dr said healthy sperm can live in the female body for up to 7 days. They have moved my DD back and proclaim that we have a healthy fetus with a "kicking strong" heartbeat.(drs words) Don't give up ladies, Prayer is a powerful thing. I will continue to keep everyone in my prayers.

Today 8-11-11 went to dr again (which was 10 days later than last one) for another ultrasound and now there is fetal pole which was not there 10 days ago. But they said there is no heartbeat. They said that my 1st sonogram showed 5 weeks 2 days with no fetal pole and no heartbeat and today showed 5 weeks 5 days with fetal pole but no heartbeat (ten days later) and I have a large sack. They were gonna schedule me for D&C but I just walked out upset. Can anyone please tell me what you think please I am going crazy.

I just had a sonogram on thursday, which I couldn't believe I was pregnant, because I just had a baby 4 months ago. During the sonogram I knew something was wrong when the tech didn't say one word. Finally I asked If there was really a baby in there and she got quiet then said that it was still early and probably around 4 1/2 weeks. She then told me to get dressed and would be right back after she talked to the dr. I began to cry when she left cuz I knew something was wrong. She was the same tech I had with my other two boys and was always showing me everything and talkative. When she came back she asked why I was upset and I told her I knew something was wrong and she said no, she just wanted to talk to the radiologist so i can make another appt in two weeks before I left. She also said that there is a yok and sac, but don't remember if she said there was anything else. I also told her I had to be at least 10 or 11 weeks pregnant since I know the last time we did anything was in june. She said that giving dates wasn't an exact science, but with my last son I thought the date was wrong and they said that sonograms are very accurate and are never wrong on dates. She also seem very quiet when I said that I had to be further along. I have been having back pains for a month and stomach pains. She also asked me where my stomach pains where before she left to talk to the dr. My question is that anyone been through this before and could they know that the baby is dead is not telling me? I don't feel pregnant at all and I've had two boys before. I'm really scared and hate having to wait another two weeks to know for sure. Please help if you can.

Pregnancy and fertility are such difficult issues. I can empathize with many of your stories. I had 4 miscarriages before I conceived my darling daughter. Those miscarriages were all different - 1. started bleeding at 6 weeks, 2. no heartbeat on sonogram, natural miscarriage a few weeks later, 3. DNC with genetic testing, 4. DNC with genetic testing. Finally, with the help of PLENTY of hormones, I got my little one. Well, now my husband and I have been trying for a second. We had a positive pregnancy test and I am SURE about my dates. I should be 6 weeks. But, on Monday I had an ultrasound - only 5 weeks. Not good, I've heard this song before. So, bloodwork and MIRACLE of MIRACLES my HCG is 7,000 (which is right on track for 6 weeks, hmph! So, I'll go back in two weeks for another ultrasound. My advise to anyone reading these stories is 1. FIND A GREAT DOCTOR. Someone you can trust who has your health in mind but also understands your deep desire for a baby 2. Be educated. A doctor is less likely to recommend a procedure that may be unwarranted if you can speak her language (Last menstral period, LH Surge, HCG Doubling, lengthing of cervix, etc). 3. This is the most important thing for me but may be hard for others. I try not to get too excited or too attached until after week 8. Having so many losses, I try to prepare for and expect the worst. I have learned that I will still be sad when it doesn't work out but at least I can keep trying. 4. Lastly, the BEST cure for the loss of a baby, I have found, is to get pregnant again. This may sound harsh, but truly, it has saved me. When I have lost a baby, the world closes in on me. But, pregnany gives me some reason to hope, some mission. I hope that everyone keeps their feet on the ground and doesn't give up. Although this journey is hard, you will get your family here, one way or another.

Hi all im new here but i have read alot of people having issues with their hcg levels not doubling. I am currently 6 weeks 6 days pregnant and not even the doctors are sure whats going on. 1st hcg 6-2 184.7 2nd hcg 9th 444.8 3rd hcg 11th 889.7 4th hcg 17th 2245 5th hcg 20th 3050 6th hcg 22nd 3450 7th hcg 24th 4361 How this pregnancy is viable is what is stumping the doctors. I have had 8 miscarriages 1 of those was an ectopic and i lost my left tube this is why they have done so many hcg tests, they do know that it is viable as on monday the 20th at my 6 week ultra sound we say the heart beating a strong 99 bpm. At 5 weeks i had a ultra sound and saw nothing but the sac of corse thats normal at that time and i was told that it was the size of 5 weeks then at 6 weeks it had grown perfect. I have been bleeding off and on since day dot. Some extremely light others not so light To all the woman out there i know im only in early stages but have faith hcg lvl's dont mean the world , lol just look at mine they are all over the place and i am still doing ok. Id love to hear from other mums or mums to be if they have gone through the same situation because im sure that if i have there must be others out there and i hope by me posting this others who have the same situation may see that sometimes the body does what it wants there is no rule book to go by for some of us and i wish u all the best of luck through out your pregnancies. I do have a beautiful 4 year old who i has similar hcg lvl problems with and he is here now alive and verry well... fingers crossed for you all

Hi Tabatha. I am going through a similar issue and I am 7.5 weeks. My HCG levels are at 9000 so they increased but not by much. I went today for an u/s to compare to the first one (which doctor could not see anything but the sack). To their surprise they can now see the yolk. Dr says from what he can see the pregnancy is moving along but I will have an u/s at 9 weeks. By then we should definately have a heartbeat. I am just wondering how you are coming along. Thanks!
