I am 21 years old and just got diagnosed 2 months ago with PCOP. I am concerned because my doctors have put my on just Birth Control and nothing else to regulate my periods. Has anyone heard of this? after less them a month of taking the BC, i have started my period, which seems like a good sign since its been a few months But I am still wondering since everyone else has other methods.

HI, I'm 40 yrs. old and diagnosed with PCOS. I got pregnant twice and miscarried both times. I'm still waiting to get pregnant. Is there anyone out there with PCOS age 40 or older that was able to get pregnant? I guess I'm looking for hope.

I am 29 with the diagnose of PCOS when I was 19. I have one son but when I saw the doc she told me I had a slim chance of ever getting Pregnant again. Well, it came as a shock and surprise to me when I found out I was pregnant. No medication or anything. My partner doesn't understand how this could happen and thinks that I lied about everything. I am 22 weeks pregnant and only discovered it about a couple days ago. I dismissed all the symptoms because I didn't think it was possible. Well, surprise it is.

Hi Arieal This is the first step in treating PCOD. I would suggest you to continue with this and hope to get regular periods. If this does not work, you will most likely be put on Clomid/Glucophage for upto 3 cycles. This will help you in ovulation. And if this does not work, then I would suggest you to go for Laparoscopic ovarian drilling. This is the best way to treat PCOD. Keep trying and have faith in the doctor and afcourse GOD Best of Luck

Hi Ariel, In regards to PCOS it is quite normal for your MD to start you on birth control to regulate your period - especially if you are not trying to become pregnant. I used them from age of 17 to 26 years. You are still pretty young so not sure if having kids is high on your priorities right now. Once you are ready to conceive later in life you may want to try a more natural approach first before jumping to clomid/ hormone therapies as they are not without side effects. number one thing to remember is to relax- even for women without PCOS it can take a bit of time to conceive- It's a complicated thing. However if you are looking for an alternative way that may help regulate yourself, you can try Vitex ( sometimes referred to as chaste berry). It is an herb that helped me regulate nicely once coming off BCP and can also help with ovulating naturally. I was always right on time when taking Vitex and a couple months ago I was late. I simply thought the Vitex had stopped working but it turns out I'm pregnant. It may take time to help with acutally becoming pregnant on Vitex but it usually will start helping you cycle more regularly within a month or so. I bought the organic berries whole and ground them but you can purchase it in pill form from GNC or online. Most important of all is to make sure your eating in a healthy fashion and getting regular activity when it comes to PCOS and pregnancy. Avoid the processed foods/ high sugar items whenever possible. in the end it is more possible than many think for women with PCOS to become pregnant naturally. Remember ladies, the day you stop forcing or worrying about it is when it will happen.......

Hi ladies, I was diagnosed with PCOS about 5 months ago, I literally gave up hope, After reading this forum, I feel more at ease to know that there are many more experiencing my condition. My gynae has put me on a 3 month pill, just to regulate my menstruation cycle, which ends this week. So i can start trying to conceive. I am just worried that i am going to struggle for years... what can you advise that i use.

To Elena ,VERY IMPORTANT TIPS TO CONCEIVE NATURALLY EAT A HEALTHY DIET!!! I had very worse PCOS and we were trying to conceive my husband and I and it wasnt working since I started a very healthy diet for 2 months I found myself pregnant without any medication!!I cut all processed food and saturated fat:chips, fries etc all ready to eat foods, canned frozen foods, all white processed carbs, pastas, rice, bread sugary foods and drinks. I used to consume evryday in the morning ORGANIC Enriched Calcium Soja Milk with organic MUESLI cererals and sometimes at night drink 1 cup of soja milk. I used to consume legumes, raw nuts, raw almonds, raw pine seeds.dont eat too much in order to avoid weught gain.(half a mug maximum). I cut all sweets and white carbohydrates i got brown organic rice, brown organic pastas and brown whole wheat bread consumed into moderation. I used to eat plenty of fresh raw vegetables and raw fresh fruits. Avoid cheeses and dairies u can only have small quant_ty of organic cheese If u are overweight loose weight Make every day a moderate activity for 1 hour Very important. U can have small quant_ty of lean meat chicken b___st,ground lean meat preferably to be organic. Eat more Fish filet and seafood oven baked or steamed. Never cook with oil, b___ter or margarine.never fry, steam bake or roast only u can add extra virgin organic olive oil when the cook is cold. Use only Organic extra virgin olive oil for salad This is what i did to get pregnant without any medication goodluck

Anney, I would love to hear an update on how you're doing. My husband and I had been TTC since 2009. I'm not overweight for my height and have been diagnosed with PCOS for over 15 years now. I'm 34 now and could never have a period/ovulated without medical intervention. Before I got married, I was on the pill for years so I can have a period. When TTC, I've tried Clomid with no response, Metformin (not sure what that's really doing, but with diet and exercise, it feels like it's helping loose some pounds), the shots to ovulate with IUI, and lastly IVF (that resulted in miscarriage). All the responses on here are great and worth trying since everyone is different. I've also tried acupuncture, which initially was for fertility, but equally as helpful in the stress department. Stress management is also key in trying to get prego. I had a D&C after my miscarriage, but somehow after that, I became pregnant! I guess the whole IVF/D&C process jump started my ovaries :) I'm just starting my 8th week and have a slight drop in progesterone, but that's another story :( Good luck where every you are in your goals of getting pregnant. I know it can be an insane ride. I also found looking at the PCOS diet books helpful in understanding how foods affect the hormonal balance in us PCOS folks. "Chocolate Lover" above is definitely hard core!

Hey there! Hope you are doing well. Sorry to hear about you. I think if you need baby then surrogacy is the best way. It is a secure way of having a child. Surrogacy is just like a natural way of birth a child. Your baby obviously will have a connection with you. A surrogate mother is just a source to bring the baby. I have also a baby through Surrogacy. I am so happy and blessed to have him. I suggest you that there is no other best way than surrogacy to have a child for infertile peoples. It is not too much time taking and not too costly. In this way, you can have babies of you own sperms. Do not wait for anything and go for it. My best wishes are with you. Good luck. Stay blessed.
