Ru-My second period since my surgery has arrived. The first one kinda scared me because it was just as bad as it was before the surgery but I heard this is all normal. So, this one was so so so so much better... No sharp pains on my side wks before and no heavy cramps and blood flow. Feels good. I pray that we get preg before the new yr. I feel your energy, ru. You sound so much more confident and alittle more relaxed... You will do fine. Keep me informed and feel free to ask anything. Here is my email address, also. samonaburleson@hotmail.com

Hi MsMonet. Thanks for the email and please feel free to email me too at cvbaldizon@yahoo.com. I will definitely do the same. Glad to hear that this period is better. I can't wait until mine is better. I am cramping now and have been for daaaays but no period yet. Should be here any minute though. If I may ask you, how did your having a endometrium uterus affect your surgery and your condition now? The dr I saw on Monday, stated that pursuant to my MRI reports, I don't have that, but that he would study the actual films to verify. Glad you are feeling better though. :-)

hi everyone..I'm glad everyone has been keeping in touch and supporting each other :) I've seen my doc and was given my 3 month shot of Lupron. I feel as if I am finally on my way to living the rest of my life (hopefully surgery will go well) my next appt is in two months to see how the lupron is working and probably to schd surgery and the lab works leading up to surgery. i'm estimating I will be having surgery feb/march of 07. I feel very confident about my doc he has rea__sured me several times that he has done this countless of times. For you girls :) that have alreay been though this were you on lupron and was there any significant changes in the sizes of your fibroids before surgery? By the way no one warned me and told me the injection was going to be in the b___t..it wasn't bad at all but I was laughing in dr office because i don't think i've had a shot in the but since i was 10! keep in touch and everyone be well :)

Hi Everyone!
Just wanted to give a little update about the Lupron therapy. I had my first shot about 3 weeks ago. I had some of the expected symptoms... night sweats and mild hot flashes, but nothing too unbearable. The good news is that my fibroid has shrunk. I used to be able to feel it and my stomach was expanded. I can't feel it anymore and my stomach has gone down a lot! There is no more pressure in my abdomen area, either. I didn't realize that I had so many symptoms from the fibroid until now that they are gone! I guess my fibroid was slowing growing and I adjusted to the discomfort without really knowing. Anyway, I go back the end of November for my 2nd injection and to schedule the surgery. Most likely mine will be the end of January 07. Joker, it was nice to hear an update from you. Good luck with the Lupron... I hope you have good results! Ms. Monet, Ru and Avey... hope you all are feeling better! Take Care, Juliane

Hi everyone..Avery thanks for your update on your reaction to the Lupron. I just mine less than a week ago and I swear I can feel a difference..its probably just wishfull thinking on my part. My visit with the doc said my uterus was about 15 cm which give or take a little would equal a 15 week pregnancy..in my case 15 isn't bad since I was at 24/25 weeks so they have shrunk a lot. Juliane do you know what your measurements were before the lupron shot so we can compare notes :) Another thing I wanted to mention is to get your doctors e-mail address..you know how you always go in prepared and you know everything you want to ask about and you leave feeling like you got all your answers and on the way home remember something...well I got my docs e-mail so I could e-mail him a question and he could respond to me rather than calling leaving a msg and playing phone tag..just something I wanted to mention incase you haven't thought about it..with everything else on our minds who is thinking about e-mail? take care everyone. I will keep everyone updated on my Lupron therapy..by the way..Juliane..did you get a 3 month shot or a 1 month shot..I got a 3 month shot and I'm schd to see the doc after christmas to do see how the lupron is working. take care everyone

Hi everyone!
I share the same heartache and fear.
In 1999 I had a very large fibroid removed by a myomectomy (it was around my tube). In 2001 the fibroid grew but on the left side. I was monitor and ultrasound every 6 months. I told my GYN in July of 2005 my husband and I were going to start in the new year. He gave me the ok.
I was blessed to get pregnant in January 2006. I complained to the Dr of pains in my left side when I worked out. They advise me to continue and I was fine. In May I told them my water broke(I went to the hospital) they did 2 ultra sounds and 2 internals(within 72 hours) and told me I was fine. In June I pa__sed out at work. I went to the hospital to find out that I did not have any amino fluid around the baby. My water did break 4 weeks before and I was rushed to have a D&E.
I was so devistated. All the pain I had made me determined to find the right Dr who is going to help me have a healthy baby. I had a dye test and CAT scan. My Doctor believed the loss was caused by the fibroid. I had my second myomectomy Sept 26.
I have done this twice and was scared each time. I cant believe it is over. I was so focus on what I need to do but never thought about the next step.....
Getting pregnant. The Dr said we can start to try 3 months after the operation but I am so scared. I dont want to wait because they could grow back. Yet, I dont understand how a person would be ok to have a baby just 3 months after that type of operation.I am so scared that I will loose another baby or the baby will be sick because of the operation. Did anyone get pregnant right after the myomectomy? I need some support.

Your story and experience is inspiring to all who are also struggling with the same issues. Indeed, it has been said that bottled-up emotions contributes a big deal to this dilemma ....... but positive att_tude can be the best antidote for hope and healing. Btw. MsMonet, how do you feel resuming "relations" so soon after the procedure ? Any feelings of pain or discomfort within the body ? All in all, this experience can be one that truly draws one closer to her Maker knowing that with Him all things are possible.

Hi Shortiesunny..congrats on your mymectomy going well. I have heard that you should try to get pregnant 3 to 6 months after the surgery...6 months being long depending on the extent of your surgery. If you are reluctant to get pregnant so soon..3 months after surgery then I would recommend (I plan on doing this) get a ultasound to check and see if everything looks good. I know it is hard to think about getting pregnant so soon after the surgery. I have thought about that too..even though I haven't had my surgery yet..but I just try to think about how great the human body is at healing. Just think people who have broken bones and they heal and they are able to do the things they use to do, or people who have had heart transplant or any kind of organ tansplant..or something along those lines. You might have to take special percautions like not working out as much or taking things a little slower than someone who didn't have the surgery..but just believe in the healing powers of the human body and more importantly your body. I hope this helps you. No harm in trying 3 months after surgery..it may take awhile to get pregnant also :) A little update on myself. I got my Lupron shot the middle of Nov..so far everything has been good.. I haven't had any cramping or side effects and as for that time of the month everything has been light..almost like it was before I even knew I had fibroids. I take that as a positive sign that the medication is working and shrinking them. I will find out in Jan if they have shrunk. Take care everyone. Sunny, how long were you out of work?

Hi. Very inspiring to hear your stories ladies. I have a specific question that I'm not sure anyone will answer as I a__sume you all live in US. I need to find a good doctor in Canada (more specifically, British Columbia) that can perform myomectomy. I was referred to a general gynecologist who seemed to know a lot about myomectomy, explained all the pros/cons of getting pregnant with the fibroid vs. getting a myomectomy, but reading about all the experiences women had I realize it does depend on a doctor how successful the surgery will be so I want to find someone really good. Preferably a specialist in myomectomy, not just a general gynecologist. I am only 30 years old, have had the fibroid (8x8 cm) since I was 26 and I really want to have children so I don't care much about the length of recovery or size of the scar, I just want to make sure the best route is taken so I can have children. Anyone can give me advice on how to find an myomectomy specialist in Canada? Thanks and good luck to everyone.

Hi akvals, I don't know how you would go about finding an excellent doctor in Canada. The only thing I can suggest to search on the internet and ask your gyno that you went to. You need a gyn surgeon, not all gyn are surgeons. Ask your gyn since he/she was so knowlegeable about myomectomy they may have some recommendations for you. Be sure you ask a lot of questions when you go see your specialist. I have done a lot of reading and research on the internet and I can give you a list of questions to take with you. Keep in touch and take care.

MsPositive-All is well at the moment. I started back to work, November 27th. Intimacy was difficult in the beginning... I couldn't even go there mentally. I was so scared... My doctor told me that all women are like that after the Myo and that we must realize that majority of it is in our head. So, I spoke with myself and realized how much anxiety I created... My doctor told me to realize that nothing will break or pop or even touch the area in which the operation took place. He showed me a visual chart and from that point I had less anxiety. When we did it, it was alittle painful as it would be anyways if one didn't have intercourse for a few months... But as time unfolded, I was back to normal. It took a week and a half before I could do it completely. Stop, wait, hold on... LOL! I had to do alot of mind work and I realized it was mostly in my mind... You've got to take it slow... Stop when you feel it's necessary and pick up the next day but you will get there. I've had 2 cycles so far... I'm praying to get pregnant before Christmas... I was told to wait 6 wks for intercourse... And, we don't worry about protection. My doctor said that because the cycle will be alittle off for the first few months, most will not get pregnant anyway... He did have few patients who got preg a few months after and delivered OK. My doctor said the body will allow you to get preg when its time... As far as working out, although its been 2 months. I was gonna work out today but I know for a fact that I am not ready yet... The reason I know this is because when I take long strides or walk up alot of stairs, I feel it deepen inside,,, My body is telling me not yet... Write back and let me know your thoughts or questions...

MsMonet, your account of events and the total experience is very real and educational. It also looks like your doctor basically lets you in with all the facts, leaving no stones unturned. My myo was in June, and was told to wait at least 3-6 months before "trying to indulge". Are your abdominal muscles pain-free, and relaxed enough ? As you rightfully contemplate resuming the work-out schedule, or that you feel uneasiness when taking long strides ....... are you therefore a__sured that barely 2 months post-op, you're pretty much ready to drop a bun in the oven ? Any concerns about skin-expansion/stretching, pressure, nerves or pain etc. ? It is worth noting your zeal, as you've admiringly made efforts to purge yourself of any hold-backs over the years. One can only a__sume that you're all-set and ready to go for it. And who can blame you.

MsPositive- Want to hear something funny? Well, from the navel down to the pelvic area I am still numb... (The last myo , the numbnes lasted a yr) Haven't really had any pains... Until one night I felt sharp pains within... The entire night I was tossing and turning. Early that morning worried, I put my hand down to caress my stomach and low and behold I found the remote... Lol! I couldn't feel it on the outside... Only the inside... How embarra__sing... Ugghhh! I pray God will give us a child when He sees fit and when He thinks the time is right. Even if I am rushing it... I do want Him to be in control. I want a healthy child so bad... I have to wait on Him. Afterall, he brought me through this surgery with flying colorrs. I recovered well! No working out for me just yet... I am going to wait a few months. Just walking... No running or aerobics just yet. Also, MsPositive... The reason I decided not to work out is because I met this woman who after 2 months after having her Myo... Slipped on the treadmill while running... She ripped her incision open and had to get it resealed... She told me the day I was gonna go... I grew weak and came home. Lol!

Sounds like you weren't too far away ....... judging by the response time. You mean the area was so numb, even after a year, that you couldn't even feel the pressure of a remote control ? lol. Anyway, as I've always believed, this whole feminine episode is by the Grace of God. Or else how do you explain the miracle of being di-sected, sewn-up, and the ability to harbor and nourish a being as it grows, kicks around and eventually emerges. I have and will always count on my Lord, as He guides me along this journey. Let us know when you get the early Christmas present, as hinted.
