hello ladies am looking for some support so please help me with this one.
ok quick recap. I have a 12cm fibroid and I lost a baby boy at 19 weeks.
well I met with two new doctors yesterday. The first said we have to do more test, and then he will tell me if I should have it removed. The second did an internal exam and told me straight up that the fibroid has to be removed. She too is going asking for more test, but she knew that I could not go another day with out knowing something. Ok so I get home and tell my mom and the husband. Both tell me that they think that we should try again with out the operation. Because of the fair of too much scar tissue. I hear them but I know that I cant go through another miscarriage. I was huge and every one from a distance knew I was pregnant. To go through that again might be too much to bear. But on the same note, not having a baby at all is just not an option. WHAT DO I DO????? Am going crazy. Am going to need a cerclage regardless. And am going to need a c-section regardless. What would you do????/

SAJ, my story is a few messages up. I had fibroid surgery in May and got pregnant less than a month later after not using any birth control for over 6 years and never conceiving. I guess there was one in the way. Well, now I am 16+ weeks and doing fine but they found out I have already grown new fibroids! Since May! I'm not sure which is worse for carrying or conceiving--the scar tissue or fiboids, I just know that I did get pregnant quickly after their removal.I am still scared that something may go wrong but I pray a lot.I don't want to tell you to do one thing of the other, I just wanted to tell you what I've learned through experience.BTW, I had the surgery to get rid of the fibroids because they were causing very heavy periods and severe anemia developed. I didn't realize they were also effecting my ability to conceive and also,I am 39 yrs old and that is another high risk factor. Are you in your 30's or still 20's. I know fibroids tend to grow with time and tend to shrink after menopause when your hormone levels recede.

Thanks Bridget I dont think that I had any problems getting pregnant, we tried for two months and on the second try, I got pregnant. But the operation will be done to carry to term. Thanks for the info though. My doctor did say that they will grow back, but the removal will help with the pregnancy.
I do have the heavy bleeding as well, so it might just be needed.
but thanks a lot for responding

SAJ: Both surgery, and no surgery are valid options. You have to choose what is best for you. Here are a couple questions I found that helped me make my decision. Don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions. This is an important decision, and if you come with questions written down you will get better answers and be able to better express your need to understand the answers. First: There are certain places on the uterus that the egg tends to fix itself too. Ask your doctor to show you where these most common locations are, and ask him/her to show you where your fibroids are in relation to these points. I was told that fibroids inside the uterus at these points are more likely to create difficulties, and end up with miscarrages. I don't know about fibroids on the outside wall in these locations, so you could ask your doctor. But if you remove one on an outside wall at these locations you need to also ask if that increases the risk that scar tissue there will add to the problem after surgery. For me it also helped to ask the doctor why they recommend surgery? Get them to give you details of what they have considered. If they say it is because of size, ask why is size a concern? If it's location, again ask why that could be a problem. A question I did not ask, but if you are considering surgery, you should find out if when fibroids regrow do they tend to grow back in the same location or not? Also, ask your doctor what are the risks of not having the surgery and getting pregnant with the fibroids you have. Good luck. Don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions. Doctors may a__sume you know more than you do and skip over little details. Personally I always find it helpful to pretend I don't know anything. And if one doctor gives you information that contradicts another, tell him you were given different information and ask his oppinion on the other information and why he feels differently.

Hi, I just read your post. I'm 39yrs old and have had 2 myomectomies and 1 Laparoscopy. Even after all these surgery the fibroid had grown back. The Laparoscopy was done on 06/2012 and as of 01/2013 I have fibroids the size of a 18 weeks pregancy. The last time I was pregnant was 06/2010 and since than have try many time to get pregnant again but still having problem. my husband I have try by going thru IVF. I was on BCP for one months and developed DVT and PE which cause me to cancel my IVF treatment. After 2 miscarriages and my current age my Ob/Gyn is telling me and schedulling for a 3rd myomectomy. I'm scared and affraid that if I have another surgery I may never be able to give the man of my dreams a child og our own. Ms. Bridget thank you for the kind words that you have posted on here which has gevin me a courage to go ahead and have the 3rd surgery and hope and pray that GOD is and will always be part of my life.
