Hello all this has given me hope where I am 6 wks today. I had a beta and progesterone 8-11 and the levels were 73 for beta and 12 for progesterone. I had a repeat beta and progesterone 8-18 and my levels were 739 and my progesterone had dropped to 9. I am terrified that I am having another m/c I had one in May and I can't believe this might be happening again. I go in for a repeat Wednesday. I didn't want to start progesterone again since both of my losses I had low progesterone and still went on to see a heartbeat and then lose the baby a week to two weeks later. I am trying to stay hopeful but its very difficult.

Kim, why don't you want to take progesterone supplements? You know its low, so why not? It truly wont hurt, it can only help!! I hope the best for you!!! Also, shoop... yea, sounds like you got a good doctor. Taking the progesterone might have been the key to sustaining your gift inside you. ;) Especially since you heard the heartbeat. My levels were low and we heard the heartbeat, but it was very faint... just a flicker and never got better. But I took my progesterone supplements too late. 4 days after they finally gave me supps. for it, the heartbeat had stopped. So, I no know that I would rather be safe than sorry and take it as soon as possible the next time. Sure hope everything works out and next heartbeat for your little peanut is even higher! :)

Daniella, I don't want to take them because I am concerned it is just prolonging the enevitable. Both of my previous losses were the ones we had hearbeats on, my progesterone was low and we went on to lose both pregnancies. I had m/s with both and low progesterone with both. I am concerned that by taking it all I am doing is holding off what will come anyhow. My husband wants me to take it because he feels that we should try whatever we can to help our baby live. I know it won't hurt I just don't want to go on thinking everything is ok like I have the last two times and then find out the next week after the u/s that my baby died within days of the ultrasound. I did start to take it and am honestly going to call tomorrow and say I want a beta and progesterone done tomorrow and maybe some antibody tests to see if there is anything else that might be causing this. My last loss was genitically normal, and I suspect my first was too. So I am just wanting to know why this keeps happening now after having 5 healthy pregnancies I had my first loss, then got pregnant and had another child, now I am heading for my second loss. I don't get it. Now I am just blubbering on. Hope that answers your questions, thanks for the input.

Kim, it might be possible that you developed luteal phase defect. This was my 3rd loss for me, and we didn't find out that I had a progesterone problem until this 3rd time and it was too late by the time we found out. You are right about the possibility about prolonging the inevitable, yet at the same time, what if its not inevitable and its only because your not producing something just as simple as progesterone? ya know... I feel deep inside that I could have saved the last pregnancy if I found out sooner that my levels were low and started supplementing ASAP.... the only thing in your case is that you have had a healthy baby in between your loses. Which usually means that you may not have a hormone problem. I haven't had any live births and I did hear the heartbeat in the last loss. Everything showed so great, except my levels were very low. My HCG was doubling great until 6 weeks and they weren't going up fast anymore, and the progesterone wasn't tested until it was pretty much too late (level was 8.4). 4 days after I started supplementing, the heartbeat had stopped. I've never had regular periods and I'm very athletic, so they said its a good possibility that I have a progesterone problem. Did testing and its all pointing to that direction. I sometimes wonder if they found this out before I ever got pregnant the first time, that I might have 3 kids by now. But, I do believe it will happen when its time and I am much more knowledged on this whole ordeal, if you know what I mean. Sorry for me babbling. I surely hope the best for you. Keep posted! I sure pray it helps and isn't inevitable!!

Also, Kim... your HCG was only 739 at 5 weeks? Sounds like they doubled like they should, but is that kinda low for almost 6 weeks? You have seen a heartbeat already, how is everything else? Like does the sac and fetal pole measure to the age?........ Sorry for all the questions.

I am 5 weeks and 5 days and my doctor told me my progesteron level dropped from 14800 to 13700. she mentioned is still within normal limits , and in 3 days I should have an ultrsound to check heartbeat. I wonder i I start taking progesterone shots, would that be sufficient to sustain the pregnancy? The hCG level increased as expected. Any ideas... is going to be a long night for me till i get a hold of my doctor tomorrow AM.

Flo- you mean your progesterone was 14.8 and dropped to 13.7? because your progesterone cant be more than a double digit, unless your talking your HCG. Yet, at 5 weeks, even 13 isn't bad at all

Thanks Daniella, for this pregnancy we haven't seen anything yet, I haven't had a U/S yet. I did go in yesterday and had my levels checked again and they called this morning and they look good so for now I am holding on to hope. I have my first O/B and a U/S scheduled for next Thursday. Thanks so much for the support. Btw I am 5 wks 3days today the beta was over 2000 somewhere I didn't get the exact #s.

Has anyone experienced an off-white discharge from taking the progesterone supplements that you insert 2 times a day?

Yes, same thing here, I got a white/off white discharge while I was on the gel. It stopped about 3 days after I stopped taking it completely.

I am 8wks pregnant today, my last 3 progesterone levels started at 22 ( on 8/5/05), 17 (8/11), and 11.7 (8/19). Ultrasound done on 8/23 baby's heartbeat is 144- normal for a fetus, and it measured that I'm 7 wks and 4 days pregnant. I started on Progesterone 25mg v____al suppository on 8/19 2x/day, then increased to 3x/day. No major change in symptoms since I got pregnant. My doctor said I can work but because of the brown stains in my pantiliners, I was put on 10 day rest (not necessarily bedrest, but to "stay home") since 8/19. This is beyond our control, but GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL. Pray without ceasing because God moves by FAITH.

Kim__ Update-- Yesterday I found out I'm pregnant again. I am NO MORE than 2 weeks. I had a D&C just over 6 weeks ago. My HCG went down to 0 about 4 weeks after the loss (about 2 1/2 weeks ago it was at 5).. I got pregnant again shortly there after.. My HCG was 134 yesterday. I thought that was kinda high for 2 weeks, but I'm not complaining... I get them re-checked tomorrow. I also started crinone 8% yesterday.. Hopefully we caught it soon enough this time. :) My dr. said at only 2 weeks from conception, that its too early to test my progesterone levels, but put me on the supplements anyhow, because we know I have a problem with it and it doesn't hurt to take it.

I'm going to try to get them to test my progesterone when I go in to have them test my HCG tomorrow. Even if its still an early pregnancy, I just want to see what my levels are to compare
