I'm going to try to get them to test my progesterone when I go in to have them test my HCG tomorrow. Even if its still an early pregnancy, I just want to see what my levels are to compare

Hi Ladies, I had my appt today and not sure what to think about what is going on. I am due on April 22nd the baby is measuring 5 wks 6 days. HR was 121. There was a small pocket of blood next to the gestational sac. She said it could be implantation bleeding or something else. The dr basically told me it could go either way at this point. I have another U/S scheduled for next Wednesday to see if the baby has shown any growth or is no longer viable. I am so upset, I had a loss i n May and I just don't know how I will survive another one. He did order progesterone, estridol, and tsh's. The dr did say if we lose this one that he will do a full miscarriage work up and that is the only thing giving me hope that if something happens we will hopefully be able to find out and prevent it from happening again. Please keep me in your prayers. I am so very worried right now.

Kim- I just want to say that 121at 5 weeks 6 days, sounds pretty darn good to me. Also, they say that 90% of pregnancies make it after you hear the heartbeat (unfortuntely my last one didn't but the heartbeat wasn't strong like yours at all)... ALSO--- my dr. said that the slight bleeding behind the sac could be normal. That they've seen that quite often and it turned out just fine. Don't lose faith!!! I just had my HCG taken again today. It was at 134 exactly 2 days ago and today it is at 270. So, it doubled exactly the way it should. Hopefully that means its not ectopic. But, its too early to see in the uterus yet. WOW! I just can't believe this is happening so soon after my loss 6 weeks ago. I am about 2 weeks now. (well, 4 weeks from LMP they call it)

Kim, here is a great site: http://www.ob-ultrasound.net/ ____ Here is what some of it says (copied)... Normal heart rate at 6 weeks is around 90-110 beats per minute (bpm) and at 9 weeks is 140-170 bpm. At 5-8 weeks a bradycardia (less than 90 bpm) is a__sociated with a high risk of miscarriage. ALSO.... on that same site, clicking on "gestational sac" here is some info (copied)-- Small amounts of bleeding into the cavity are commonly seen, and may surround much of the gestational sac, but if the decidua basalis remains intact, the gestation can and usually does continue to develop normally....Subchorionic Bleeding : Often visible as endometrial fluid surrounding the external (Decidua Capsularis) aspect of the gestational sac. As long as the placental (Decidua Vera) interface of the gestational sac and decidua remain intact, the pregnancy often continues. From the standpoint of Hemorrhage volume (Estimated from formula Length (cm) X Height (cm) X Depth (cm) X 0.52 = Volume ml), less then 75-200 ml. is often a__sociated with continued development.

Questions for Crinone users - I just wantedt to add that, I, too, am on Crinone and have also had salmon and gray tinged cottage cheese disharge. I have actually found one infertility site which says this off-color discharge is normal. So not to worry about that. What I'd like to know if other crinone users developed SERIOUS nausea - the kind where it is hard to get out of bed and you are sick all day long. I had this sort of morning sickness with my daughter (no crinone), but am wondering if this time it is due to the crinone. I am hoping it is normal morning sickness (normal for me, I mean) and not just the meds, as I don't have an ultrasound scheduled until Thursday and have not seen the baby in the gestational sac (last ultrasound was at 5 weeks). I am on one dosage (90 mg) daily, which doesn't seem like a lot compared to what some other woman are taking. It's hard to believe it would make me THIS sick. Please let me know your stories!

Daniella - September 2

Erin- This isn't the first time I've been on crinone and I don't believe it can make you sick. It says on the possible side effects that you might... but, you probably are because your pregnant. :) I just started getting sick... but, its not the crinone.. I am also on only one dose, but its the 8% which is pretty high. Fortunately I haven't had any weird color stuff come out of me yet. Sometimes its chunky and what not... or like paper mache... lol.. but, no off colors.

Erin - September 3

Thanks Daniella! I'm hoping you're right. My ultrasound is Thursday, so I'm hoping it will be good news. This nausea is REALLY bad!!! I started vomiting today. I'm on the 8% crinone, too... Is that very high? The women who are taking prometrium (oral) take up to 400 mg per day! That's more than 4x what we are getting. The discharge is gross, and I'm glad you're not experiencing the tinged stuff... Several posters above commented on the "salmon tinged" and gray variety, which I have. Must be a reaction to acids or alkalines or something if it's been sitting there awhile. Very gross. But there is definately one official, infertility specialists website which says these colors are within the normal range for crinone. If I find the link again, I'll post it.

Kim - September 3

Erin, I think the difference between the prometrium and the crinone is concentrated so its a lower mg so to speak. I am taking 400mgs twice a day though my script is for 200mgs twice a day, I upped it after I had both my loses. My first was on the 8% suppositories the second was on 200 mgs prometrium. We have our next u/s to check the babys growth on Wednesday. Good luck with yours on Thursday.

Daniella - September 3

Hey Erin__ both our ultrasounds are on Thursday, so best of luck for the both of us! Also, you can't really compare and oral supplement with a gel. In fact some say that the gel works better because it goes straight to the uterus. That is why, you can't judge your levels of progesterone in your blood to determine how well the supplements work when you take the gel. Also, the 8% is the highest dose in gel... so it is pretty darn good. If you do a google search, you will find many sites (even the crinone site itself) that will fill you in with a lot of information. Looks pretty good to me. Be thankful we aren't like my sister who had to give herself a shot in the b___t twice a day for 12 weeks of her pregnancy. But, it saved her son. She would have 100% miscarried if she didn't get those progesterone supplements. So, I think its BS when they say that low progesterone means that its a "bad" pregnancy.

Hi Betty, I am 10 weeks pregnant and have been on Duphaston tablets and Crinone ever since I ovulated due to my short luteal phase. My doctor has told me to continue using them until the end of my first trimester. If it hadn't been for the Progestrone supplements I would be hear sharing my gifted news. Don't be too concerned, all IVF patients use progestrone supplements to support their pregnancies.

ERIN___ What happened to you and your ultrasound? Haven't heard from you

Erin - September 12

Hi Daniella - It all went well! Saw the baby, measuring right for dates (7 days 2 weeks), and heartrate good, too. I am 8 weeks tomorrow and having another ultrasound at 9 weeks 2 days. I have been SO SICK with nausea and vomiting I can hardly do anything. It's been nine years since I was last successfully pregnant (I'm an old lady at 37 - second marriage), and I really just blocked out how awful it is. But comforting, too! How are things with you?

Daniella - September 12

Morning sickness starting to kick in real bad. lol... I go back in today to get all my bloodwork. Then in a few weeks another ultrasound to take the measurements and hear the heartbeat. My progesterone at 4 weeks gestation was at 19.1, so alot better than last pregnancy when I was only 8.4 at 10 weeks gestation. So, much better sign. But, I started taking supplements before I found out the levels and I am going to continue. :)
