Hi, today I went for my 12 weeks scan just to be told I had a missed miscarriage. There was just an empty sac matching the size of a 10-week pregnancy. The Docs could not tell me when or where the baby had disappeared. Last bleedeing/spotting I had was when I was 7 weeks, at 8 weeks the scan showed everything OK, at 12 weeks - just an emty sac. Where is the baby? I am booked for the evacuation of remnants next week. I don't think I can go on like that. I am very frustrated - my husband and I have been trying for a baby for 6 years after we had a son 8 years ago. We are devastated. All hopes ruined. Please, anybody, could you explain to us where and how the baby could have gone with no bleeding and pain? :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

just have a silly question...wat is a blighted ovum?i have read so many questions bout it on this site but had never heard of it

a blighted ovum is where a pregnancy begins and a pregnancy sac and placenta from and grow, but a baby does not. Either they never formed in thr first place or they were re-absorbed so early on in pregnancy they were never seen. It is a horrible situation because you grieve for the loss of a baby but in a way they weren't really there-but they were real to you. Also because the sac and placenta continue to grow you feel pregnant throughout as if all was well. It is one of the most common types of miscarriage.

My last miscarriage was a blighted ovum I found out about it when I went into the ultrasound. I am really nervous because I am pregnant again and I have my ultrasound on Wednesday I am so scared of finding out it is another blighted ovum. Anyone gone through this before?

Help! I am 10wks pregnant and I thought I was over morning sickness, but yesterday I noticed grayish black discharge in my panties and I am having horrible nausea. Everything I have read tells me that something is wrong...I am very scared. I am 19 years old and this is my first pregnancy.

hello, oxicute, i had a blighted ovum in march, i researched this endlessly on the net and found one internet site very open and truthful. Most dr's will say no baby ever formed but we know different what produced the sack i was so confused and came across this answer at or around the 5 week mark is the main point if you can imagine your baby is around the size of the top of your small finger nail not my words these were actually on the site i found our bodies for what ever reason knows the pregancey has failed and the body reabsorbes the the cells as such. I know its hard ive been there but i found just some comfort from that knowing my baby will always be with me if you can understand that, sorry if to much detail but if you are like me i really needed answers and i found them from this and we did nothing wrong just wrong chromosones at the time of implantation good luck all.

I hadn't realized the womb was empty until I went into listen for the heartbeat.  I had light spotting throughout.  Before I realized I was pregnant I had horrible cramps much worse then during menstruation and had gone away after about a week before I took a pregnancy test.
