erin - how did your tests come out? i do think that ANA can make wierd things happen in pregnancy - i know mine was far from textbook, and i suspect the autoimmune/inflammatory response....

Hi, interested to see ANA come up. I have had a miscarrage at 18weeks and am now currently 25weeks pregnant at the moment. After my m/c it was discovered that i have possitive ANA. Dr has said to me that my m/c was more than likley un related and that alot of woman have possitive ANA and dont know it. These woman have healthy normal pregnancys, it isnt until a bad outcome arises were every test under the sun is done that it may be discovered and be portrayed as a contrubting factor. Wether marley for some closure of becouse it is a reason for a m/c, who will know??? So for all the possitive ANA woman out their who want some hope, i am currently 25weeks pregnant, all good so far.

thanks, sara - and congrats! and to everyone, i'm not sure if i've asked before, but is there anyone of you who has a consistently high ANA (1:640 or above) who's had a successful pregnancy?

Stacie - November 21

Hi Jenny, I beleive we've connected through another thread...but I wanted to share with you that when I first found out I had positive ANA (1:640) I had already suffered a miscarriage (which this doctor did not know) but didn't even bother with what positive ANA meant. One month later I became pregnant (my OB was unaware of the results, so no medications were prescribed) and had a very healthy little girl. Only now, three years later after sufferring my second miscarriage am I going back to understand what positvie ANA is (levels still at 1:640) and what it means in relation to pregnancies...all my doctors are now involved and are finally sharing my charts/lab results. Bottom line is, you can have a normal pregnancy.

thanks, stacie.

im only 22 years old and have tried desprately to start a family. i have gone through 5 terrible miscarrages and was devastated. i was then tested for what felt like 400 tests. i came up as being A.N.A positive. i dont know the exact number but i was told that on top of posibly having lupus, being positive for this test may mean i can never have children. im completely devastated but refuse to give up. im going to howard university hospital in the next few months for further testing. any further help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, I am new to this forum. I had a miscarriage in 2008 6weeks. At then there was no heart beat & sac, that was what i was told.Later in 2009 i miscarried again this time there was heart beat , yolk sac visible everything seemed good but i had lower back ache, went to the dr, he said it is a failed pregnancy.2 1/2 mths a immediate D&C was done. All i know & so do the Dr. that my ANA is +ve 1:80 t_tre. All test were done but still no definite explanation as to why i am miscarried again. Please advice would really appreciate.

I know these posts are really old but am finding it hard to find a current thread that is appropriate. I am currently pregnant with number 7, no live births yet. I have only slight ANA markers but lose around 6-7 weeks each time. I am on Heparin, Aspirin, Prednisone and Progesterone and have just started bleeding again. I have read all over the place that a number of women on the same drugs bleed for the first few monthes and go on to have normal births and am hoping now it's my turn! Have any of you got more recent news of successful pregnancies or any advice?

Hi JayB, I am just wondering how you are getting on. I have had 3 miscarriages, 1 at 11 weeks and 2 at 5 weeks, with an ANA t_tre of 1:1280, so quite high. My ob wants to only try asprin and maybe progesterone support as he considers the risks a__sociated with heparin and clexane use outweigh the benefits. He will only try heparin if I lose another pregnancy. Is there any reason your ob decided to go straight for heparin and not just asprin and is it working? How high is your t_tre? I'm not sure teh t_tre actually matters, if you are positive, then you are positive. I really don;t want to go through another miscarriage and am wondering if I should find another ob before trying again. However, this one is a high risk ob who is fantastic. I have has a baby with him already, she is nearly 3. I had no issues falling pregnant with her and its likely that her pregnancy triggered the antibodies.

Hello, Six months ago, because of a hand rash, I made an ANA test which was 1:80 positive (FANA methode). Anti-rnp was bordering 1:0, but the U1-rnp was negative. The other results of a complete ANA test were also negative. (CCP, IgG-abs, ds-DNA-ab, chromatine abs, SS-A/Ro(60kD), La/SS-B, Sm (B'B/D), U1-RNP/SM, Scl-70, Jo-1/Histidyl-tRNA-Synthet., Ribosomal P-protein abs, c-ANCA, p-ANCA, Cardiolipin-Ig-(G/M/A), B2-glycoprot.-1-ab, Lupus-anticoagulant, MAK/TPO-abs - all negative). I made a check up now and the results for ANA remain the same (1:80), the anti-rnp is little over border line 1.1 (border line is 1.0) and U1-rnp is again negative. Doctors say that I do not have a autoimmune disease at the moment. But still I'm afraid to get pregnant because of the risks that positive ANA carries along and because I read that after pregnancy the results could worsen, in my case I am afraid that pregnancy could be a trigger for developing an autoimmune disease. I would be greatful to read some of your opinions. Many thanks in advance

hello i was wondering if any body has experienced what im about to explain to you and ended up having a healthy baby. well it all started when me and my partner had s_x 2 and half weeks ago.it was a tuesday night and by the wednesday morning i was bleeding slightly then on the thursday evening it got heavier.i went for a scan that day in which they told me the sac was measuring 4-5 weeks and that the sac was empty.they told me to prepare my self for a miscarriage they booked me in a week later for scan.I waited a whole week to miscarry but just had light bleeding. so went back a week later for scan and they told me they could see the sac and a yolk this time but was still measuring 4-5 weeks! she told me i was defo miscarrying as it had grown in a week. she told me to prepare for a miscarriage (loosing clots and will have some pain) well the funniest thing is 2 days after this scan i stopped bleeding and that was 3 days ago!!! im so confused if any body have any comments they could share with me i will really aprichate it, i have another scan booked for thursday coming up and not sure what to do if they offer d/c or tablets thank you x have wrote in other topics on here but no response x x
