The same thing happened to me. My first blood test was neg and I'm now 3 mos along. Some docs blood tests have to be over 20 hcg hormone in blood to be +... and the hpt's are as low as 10! Hang in there. Waiting is so hard!

Lisa, I had a miscarriage some years ago and at the time my doctor told me my period would not resume for 4 to 6 weeks. Best of luck.

So Denise how long did it actially take after your miscarriage for your period to start?

sad - January 11

To maybe- Hi- your doctor should suggest it but if not then you should insist on having a second blood test. My first one was 'negative', my second one was definitely positive (almost 100,000 hcg). They said it must have been a lab error! So, don't take the first test as the final word. Be your own advocate! Good luck

Lisa, It was about 20 years ago... I don't recall! LOL I just remember the doctor telling me 4-6 weeks. I've since had 2 babies and am preg now. Do a google search for PERIOD AFTER MISCARRIAGE and it should give you some info. ;o)

Dinese can i ask how old you are please??You said it was 20 years ago when you had a miscarriage and your 3 months pregnet now....

Denise - January 11

LOL... no problem. I am 39. My daughters are 18 and 16. I had them at 21 and 22. I was 20 when I had the miscarriage. I will be 40 when this one is born. I just remarried a couple of weeks before I got pregnant. We planned this asap before I got any older. How old are you?

Lisa - January 11

Denise that's great that your married and all and this was planned....I am not married, nor do I have a boyfriend. But what i do have is a full time job that i worked long and hard for,I think this miscarriage was a good thing. Not meaning that in a bad way but I didn't want it anyway....And I am 38 year's old,I figured it was my age for reason of the miscarriage, for I don't drink nor do I smoke......

Lisa, I'm glad to hear you aren't too sad. Do you have any children? Do you want to someday? (Don't have to answer) I am going to have one more after this one. We can do it... even at our age.

i took another hpt and it came back positive too so now that's 3 positive and one negative blood test i go back on the 25th to get my 2nd blood test. i hope its positive. i dont know why the first came back negative with 3 + hpt.

Denise - January 13

On the 25th??? The waiting is the hardest part. But it sounds to me like your prego! I had 2 dr blood test and 2 dr urine test come back neg while at home I was getting pos hpt's. I kept going back and insisting on more... until finally they were pos. I think the medical profession needs to update their tests... I mean if a hpt is better, that's pretty pathetic. Best of luck to you. I know you'll be prego!

to denise read ur comment was hoping u were right but today took hpt first response came back negative. 3+hpt ept one - blood test and one - hpt first response so i guess i dont need to get another blood test on the 25th i am so sad what to do?

Denise - January 14

Dear Maybe- I had two preg tests come out negative during this time, but they were 'duds' . Did you make sure the 'test line' showed up? It's that line on the test that shows the test was done correctly and working right.

To Maybe: My sister had 2 positive hpts and then a negative blood. They gave her pills to start her period, but she didn't take them. She took another positive hpt and then went back and got a positive blood. BTW, my niece is 19 now. Anyway, there is always the possibility of lab error. Also, a qualitative blood test is only a yes or no and who knows what level hcg they use for a yes. If you are still getting positive hpts, go get another blood test and request a quant_tative so it will give your exact hcg level.
