7 Weeks Late Still Negative Hpt S

I'm just curious, how many of you out there are weeks late and are still getting negative hpt's? I'm just really confused because I am over 7 weeks late now, and still getting negative hpt's. I've taken at least 10 different tests. I've tried Clear Blue, First Response, EPT, and some other brands, all of which came out negative. I guess I don't know what to think because every test that I've taken has said negative, but yet I'm over 7 weeks late. I have some symptoms, but not a lot of them. Sometimes I think it could all be in my head, but at the same time I don't. I didn't even think that I could be pregnant until I was late for my period, and now I'm more confused than ever. My br___ts don't feel any different, but then again they never do, not even when I get my period. Before 8 hours of sleep was more than enough for me, and now 8 hours is not enough. I have back pain, and I have cramps like you would get before you're going to get your period, but my period never accompanies the cramps. I have heart burn, and I have never in my life had heart burn before. I feel sick all the time. I constantly feel like I am going to throw up, but I never actually throw up, I just always feel like I have to. I'm a smoker, and lately the smell of smoke and smoking in general makes me sick, so I have since stopped smoking. I am just so confused and frustrated at the same time because like I said, I am over 7 weeks late, and every test that I've taken came out negative. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mandy, you are not alone. My last af was 22 Nov, I have all the symptoms including the b___st and nipple soreness which should be considered as early sign of pregnancy. I took 3-4 tests different brand but all of them negative (two of them showed positive after few hours and the faint line is still there even now after few days, but as I've read in the net and in this forum I shouldn't consider positive because they are considered as evaporation line) and I totally understand your position but what else we can do. I have a doct's appointment for u/s but I am so scared to be disappointed. So I would recommend to you to keep testing one more time after a week and than go and do a blood test. *** Baby dust to us all ***

Meg- Thanks for responding. Good luck with your ultra sound. I hope you get the news you’re expecting. I think I’m to the point where I can’t keep waiting it out, because I’ve been waiting it out for almost 2 months now and it’s doing nothing for me. I guess the most frustrating part about my whole situation is the fact that I’ve spent so much money on different pregnancy tests, all of which have given me the same answer, negative. You would think that after being over 7 weeks late that at least one test would give me a positive result because honestly what else would cause me to be this late? To me there’s just no other explanation. To be honest I’m a little scared to go to the doctor because of the fact that if the results come back negative, then it would mean that all of this was in my head, but like I said, I didn’t even start thinking about the possibility of being pregnant until I did in fact miss my period so I don’t know what to think.

Mandy, don't be so dissapointed. It is normal once in a year to have hormonal imbalance so the period can be very late. There are many factors that cause this delay, but they can come back to normal as well. But, many of the women from this forum experienced to be pregnant but with all neg HPTs, neg urine test, neg blood test, but when seen in u/s they were three months prego. Miracles do happen, and I wish this miracle will be for you and me as well. The most important is not to be stressed to much (as I am) because stress will not help. We should think clearly: We are Pregnant or We aren't pregnant - this is the result that we are going to get. Cheer up and don't think negative. *** Good Luck and keep me posted :o)

I’m being as positive as I can be considering my frustration with all of my home pregnancy tests coming out negative. When I go to the doctor I will know the truth, either I’m pregnant or I’m not. I’m going to try to get in to see my doctor on Friday and I will keep you posted as to how it goes.

I went to my family doctor on Friday and she did a blood test, and today she called back with the results. Come to find out, she only checked my “female” hormones to see where I was with my cycle and to see if I could somehow be pre-menopausal, which doesn’t make any sense to me considering the fact that I am only 22 years old, but I guess you never know. She didn’t check the hCG hormone because I told her that I had protected s_x, but protected or not you can still get pregnant. The thing that gets me, is the fact that she didn’t bother to check to hCG level even after I told her I was 8 weeks late and that I’ve never been late before. I feel like it was a waste of my time to go see her. Since the two hormones that she checked were normal, she referred me to have a trans-v____al ultrasound, so hopefully that will tell me the answer that I’m looking for.

My last period was on Jan 2nd. I know it is soon for me...but I feel all the symtoms, tired, dizzy, soarness in my b___sts and that constant feeling like you are going to vomit. I took two tests in the last 2 weeks and they both show negative. How frustrating...however, I just recently miscarried this past November, but have had 2 periods since. So I am not sure what is going on. I am actually going to my regular doctor today, in hopes that he will do a blood test. I am really nervous. I do not want to go through that again, but I am not sure why the tests would show up negative. I wish I had more advice for you, but I am in the same boat. Good luck.

Mandy, Did your results come in? I period is now 10 day's late and i have take 3 home tests. All negative. I have a doctors appointment on Friday, but I am also scared of the results. I have been trying to get pregnant for over 2 years and had 1 miscarrage at the begining. I am so stressed and confussed. I wish doctors would take me more seriously, I'm only 25 so they say I have to wait to see another doctor.

Mandy & Meg, I'm interested to know how your u/s went. Anita - we're close to the same - I am 12 days late. Usually am right on time, but this time neg at 3 days late. 3 faint positives between 5 and 10 days late, then negative today w/ an hpt. Very confused. I'm thinking I'm on the way to a miscarriage. Waiting for bloodwork and am scheduled for u/s tomorrow. Miscarried a couple of months ago so I'm nervous for sure. Some of the stories I've read give me hope, though. Guess I'll know more in 24hrs.

Mel- I’m not scheduled to have the ultrasound done until March 29th. I have 3 more weeks of this waiting game to wait out. This whole process is so frustrating. I think it’s a shame when you can’t be taken seriously by a doctor. There was a lot of carelessness on my doctors part. I know I’m not crazy, and my body is telling me that something is going on. I have never had any problems with my cycle before and I have never been on birth control, so I know that’s not the problem. I don’t know what I have to do to be taken seriously by my doctor. I still have symptoms that come and go, and lately I’ve been throwing up quite a bit so something is definitely going on. Considering the fact that I am now over 10 weeks late, I’m thinking I am either very pregnant or something is very wrong. I don’t know why my doctor didn’t do a pregnancy blood test, that was my reason for going to see her in the first place. Like I said, she only checked my thyroid and another hormone to see if I was somehow pre-menopausal. She didn’t bother to check for hCG. I’ve been answer free for over 10 weeks now, and I really don’t want to have to wait 3 more weeks to get the ultrasound done. I’ve been talking about this with friends, and they all agree that I need to see another doctor and demand another blood test that includes an hCG check. I’ll keep you guys posted.

Mandy, is there any reason you can't go to a different doc? If you can, I would ask friends and co-workers if they're happy with their doc. It can take awhile to find the right one.....sounds like you're definitely with the wrong one. They may not always be able to sort out what's going on immediately, but you should certainly be able to ask questions and voice concerns and expect to be treated respectfully and have them explain why are choosing a certain course of action for your treatment. If you know others who are really happy with their doctor, now is a good time to switch to a new one. I am working with midwives here who are great. It's incredible that you are having to wait that long for an u/s. At this stage, a heartbeat is detectable if you are pregnant. Our midwives have you come in at 10wks pregnant for the first visit and to listen for the heartbeat. Maybe there's a different facility you can get an appointment with who will treat you much better. Perhaps you're not pregnant (which leaves a frustratingly tremendous number of questions as to WHAT is wrong), but you may be - I've read other stories of gals who had negative tests several months in and yet were actually pregnant. Still having symptoms? I'm trying to be hopeful but don't feel the things I was feeling last week. It will just be good to know what is going on, either way. The not knowing is awful. When you're always regular, it just doesn't make sense - SOMETHING is going on! But what?

Mandy - March 8

I can go to a different doctor, but I just want to make sure that the one I choose is someone whom I can trust, and who I know will listen to my concerns, and not brush me off like nothing is going on. Something is definitely going on. Like I said, considering the fact that I am over 10 weeks late I’m thinking that I am either pregnant or something is very wrong. I went to a clinic the other day because they do ultrasounds, so I went there thinking I could get an ultrasound done, but they didn’t do one. They had me do a urine pregnancy test, and since it came out negative they said that they wouldn’t do the ultrasound. My mother was the same way when she was pregnant with my sister many years ago. She didn’t find out she was pregnant until she was almost 4 months along. Her doctor kept telling her that she wasn’t pregnant, but she was definitely pregnant considering my sister is now 17 years old. I was cleaning the other day, and it just wore me out. I was doing a lot of bending, and it was killing my back. I was having cramps really bad and when I went to the bathroom, I noticed I was spotting so I laid down on my couch for a while, and the spotting stopped. I don’t know what that was all about, but it makes me believe that I really am pregnant even though every home pregnancy test says otherwise. I have back pain, nausea, and lately vomiting and b___st tenderness. I know I don’t have the flu or something like that because my doctor ruled that out when I went to see her, so something is definitely going on. I just think it’s a shame when doctors try to convince you that everything is ok, even though your body is telling you differently. Regardless of whether or not I’m pregnant, I still need to know what is going on and what is causing me to be so late.

Mel - March 14

Mandy, just wondering how things are going with you. Still waiting for the u/s on the 29th? Any other signs of what's going on, or a new doctor that is more helpful? I hope you're doing well. I miscarried last week at 6wks. Ugh. Again. I'll be doing the progesterone supplements next time around. Life sure can be a rollercoaster.

Mandy - March 15

Well I went to the Emergency Room the other night because I was having some cramping. I thought that maybe they would an ultrasound, but they didn’t. They did a urinalysis and made me drink a lot of water because I told them that I didn’t have to go to the bathroom. The did a urine pregnancy test and it came back negative. The only useful information that they gave me was that I didn’t have a bladder infection, yeast infection, or a UTI. They did a pelvic exam and said that my uterus was enlarged. I don’t know what that’s supposed to mean. I still have symptoms, but according to everyone one else I’m not pregnant. So I am just really confused. I haven’t seen another doctor, I am just waiting until I have the trans-v____al ultrasound done. I’m pretty sure that will give me more answers. I mean, I know I’m not crazy. Something is definitely going on. For the past three days when went to the bathroom my urine was a light pink color, and there was some spotting on the toilet paper, but when I went to the bathroom later on, my urine was yellow again, and there was no more spotting. It’s been doing that on and off. I don’t know what that was all about. Today it hasn’t happened at all. I don’t know what’s going on or what to think about that, but it’s weird. The only thing that I know for sure is that I am definitely getting bigger and I am definitely have pregnancy symptoms. The vomiting has gotten wore in the past few weeks, but according to my doctor and the pregnancy tests that I’ve taken, I’m not pregnant. Today I am now 11 weeks and 2 days late.

Wow....considering what your mom went through with your sister, history could be repeating itself. Not typical, but all kinds of crazy things happen. Hard to understand how the hormones don't show up, but apparently that happens relatively often. I guess you've just got another week to wait for the ultrasound. I can only imagine how nuts all these weeks of not knowing what's going on has made you. I'd be a little concerned that the sickness has lasted this long. That's no fun at all.......How do you feel about it if you are pregnant? Probably hard to really even get excited, being in limbo and all.... Soon you'll know what's going on! I'll be thinking of you.
