We did not - I just went off the pill after 25 years on. We were very lucky I am coming to understand, as it took two months. He was diagnosed with a very low sperm count 23 years ago (in his first marriage), and I have one ovary. If this one does not "stick" (I am about nine weeks), I am coming to realize that it will not be this easy the next time. Again, I know it sounds hokey but try not to think about it too much, and stay laying down after. Again, I am sure we were a FLUKE!!!

Hello to All! I am new to this forum, my name is Wendy! I just turned 42 & found out we were pregnant (no children), so my new husband & I are elated b/c we had been TTC for over a year. We went to fertility doctors' and had a battery of tests with intra-uterine fibroids as the only possible impeding factor! Anyway, while we waited for a scheduled surgical procedure, to remove the fibroids( end of Oct).. we got pregnant! I am SCARED but so Happy!!! Anyway, I'm so glad to see so many other women, in my age group, pregnant or trying TTC also. Good Luck to you all. I'm trying to relax and take it easy & Believe that everything will be ok! :-)

Hi Everyone! Well tomorrow is my first appointment to see the doctor after I found out that I was pregnant for the first time at the age of 43. I am schedule for a sonogram just prior to my doctors appointment to make sure that everything is okay. My fiance is going with me to make sure that he is onboard with everything I am suppose to do! I just hope and pray that the sonogram shows that everything is okay at this point. I wish you all the best of luck and I will keep you in my prayers...

Good luck to you on your appointment!!! I am soooo glad to hear that others are in the same boat as me. Maybe I am not the oldest woman alive having a baby - it sure feels like that sometimes though!

Hi Everyone! Well I went to the doctor on Monday for my first doctors appt since I found out that I was pregnant. Had my first ultrasound and everything looked great! The baby's heart was beating at 152 bpm, and the doctor said that overall I am healthy. However due to my age, weight, family history and the meds I am on, I am having to consult with a high-risk pregnancy doctor to make sure that everything is watched closely. I am feeling good, for the most part, however the nausea is really taking a toll on me. I am actually loosing weight instead of gaining, but I have learned if I eat early in the morning then I will have something down before the sickness sets in just after noon! The ultrasound showed that I was 7 weeks and 3 days pregnant, but she was leaving my due date for May 23. I will keep you updated on my progress, and I wish everyone the best of luck!

dianeq- Congratulations! I think it's wonderful age to be expecting! Once you let the "cat out of the bag" you are likely to find so many people with stories of someone they know who's had babies later in life. Not sure if I'm supposed to do this, but have found a wonderful forum i-am-pregnant.com (advanced age and pregnancy). I also had an unexpected pregnancy last March at age 41. Sadly, I miscarried, but have found amazing support and success stories in that forum.

Well, it is week 11 and I am still hanging in there. I am still having afternoon sickness, but I am dealing with it the best I can. Other than staying tired all the time, everything is going well. I go next Monday the 8th for another checkup and then I go to a specialist on the 9th to have some genetic testing done, to make sure that the baby is okay. Take care and I will keep everyone updated!

Hi. She is doing great...8 months old already. I had a tough pregnancy...diabetes and high bp but it all worked out and I wouldn't change a thing. I hope all goes well with you. Thoughts are with you I know how tough this is...really feel our age...lol

orangelady - January 28

Haha, I feel you. With two kids already I can't imagine what three will be like. My husband and I only wanted two, but I guess that will change! Lol...I will keep everyone updated as my 8 week ultrasound is tomorrow.

And, typical karma. Just when the shock had worn off of finding out I was pregnant at 45, with delivery age at 46, I feel like I got hit by an two emotional buses. Before the ultrasound, I asked my OBGYN about the odds of a Downs Syndrome baby, I was given dissapointing odds. There is a one out of twenty five chance (4%) I will give birth to a baby with a chromosomal disorder. She left the room, with a terrified almost 46 year old woman inside. Then a few minutes later, I heard a knock on the door, and I was ready for my ultrasound. This next part is literally the biggest shock of my life. I am carrying twins. I immediately had a rush of thoughts and emotions swiriling through my head, and the tiny interns inside weren't working so hard to place them in their correct filing cabinets. My doctor mentioned that the odds of carrying both babies full term were slim, but absolutely possible. I am praying every night that I will come out of this experience with two healthy children to hold. Please think of me in your prayers. Nervously Sincere, orangelady

I had the same odds given to me and my baby girl(Payton) is a healthy happy 8 month old. I know they have to give you the statistics but sometimes I wish we could go along blissfully. I will say a prayer for you and keep my fingers crossed...keep me posted.

orangelady - February 5

Thank you worthygirl, but I'm already pregnant, I wasn't trying to concieve, I was actually trying to aviod it, but somehow, I'm 9 weeks pregnant with twins. I plan on releasing the news to family, other than my husband, who already knows, once I get to the 4 month mark. I am having such bad morning sickness lately. It's good that the kids are in school that way my 13 year old won't get suspicious. I have only told my husband so far. When is the earliest time you can get an amnio? I am crushed with the odds but there is still that glimmering hope that everyone will come out of this as a healthy person. Thank You for the support, orangelady
