Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me joining in. I am 40 years old and 16 weeks pregnant. I lost my first baby at 13 weeks due to major birth defects. I had IVF both times. I took the nuchal and the first set of blood and results came back 1:300 for downs. i am awaiting the second blood tests and go for my Level II sono on the 21st. I am so afraid to let myself get happy, I had problems already with low progestrone and bleeding. Anyone else stressing about Level II results?

wow, this popped up today...it was a thread i posted on over 2yrs ago....I posted in '06 that i was 6wks pg and 42yrs old...Well just FYI, my pregnancy was a very good one...i had my baby girl on July 07, just a month shy of my 43rd bday. She is a happy, very healthy 23 month old...not one problem with the girl..in fact she has only been to the doc for well check ups! She is smart as a whip...funny and beautiful!! So for anyone thinking that having a baby in your 40's is all about problems and risk...its NOT!
Im turning 45 this year and my family is complete...boy 7yrs old and girl 2 yrs old. Im done, DH is fixed and we are very very greatful for our kiddos! Just wanted to update. Good baby vibes to all!!

I have read through this forum and OMG you are all incredible!!!! I had a bit of a rockin' night with my hubby about a week ago and am feeling a little bit too crampy and out of sorts for this time of my cycle - this is all a bit familiar as already have a 7 year old (when I was 35) and a 4 year old (38) and felt just like this - I can feel implantation like the darn thing has wellies and a shovel ! Mmmm 43 in a week and was not sure how I would feel if am pregnant, so typed in Pregnant at 43 in computer and up popped this forum full of gorgeous brave women....

So nice to read all of your stories. Thank you, thank you! I understand your fear. It just goes with the territory.I so want to have a second baby and give my dd a sibling. I am 43 and dh is 33. I will be 44 in just under 3 months. I got pregnant last June and December of 08 and both ended in miscarriage. I am desperately trying to make it happen again with a happy ending this time. I had a very easy pregnancy when I delivered my dd at 42. I get so down every month when the pee stick doesn't turn pink. Thanks Suze42 for the update!

Sharon, I am 42, and having my first!!!! We are elated, but I totally feel everyone's apprehension. I go for my first ultrasound (7 weeks) on Aug 11. Is that normal? What will they be looking for? What should I be feeling at this stage? I have done so much reading, I can scare myself into thinking anything!!! I get cramping, but it is not central, a little more to the left quadrant of my abdomen....ectopic pregancy I think!!!! Crazy, I know. It is hard to simply relax and enjoy, when you know that "advanced maternal age" puts you high risk. Good luck with you!

Hello Ladies,
I just signed up and I am relieved to know of other women have the same fears and excitement at the same time. I wanted to ask Tammy how long does the actual amnio test take, is it fast like taking blood? I turn 40 next month and had 2 misses since I was 35. Happy to hear you pregnancy is doing well, you only have 3 mo. to go.

Hello Again,
Just realized I was reading the posts bacwards from much earlier in the year. Does anyone know about the Amnio test..I dont think I will be able to terminate if tests results are not good, but I will be somewhat prepared. I am really scared and trying to be positive with all the negative things to read on pregnancy after 35. This will be my fourth and my youngest is 11. However this will be the first baby for me and my new husband. My first appt is on July 24th. Happy to see all the positive comments it is helping my fears and with all the negative comments from family and friends.
Worthygirl-Want to wish you luck also.
