Hi there - I know what you mean about being nervous. I'm 36 and newly pregnant with my second (8 wks) and I'm cautiously optimistic at this stage. (Once I have an ultrasound I'll feel more secure with things.) That's great that your doctor says everything looks normal! That should put your mind at ease ~ but that's always easier said, than done, lol. I'm betting you'll do fine. Good luck to you ~ how exciting. :-)

Congrats!!! The worry lessens just a bit after the first trimester. I know exactly how you feel. You will also feel better after your scan. Good luck!

In the past my miscarriages have been around week 8...so I think with another week I'll feel more confident. The symptoms persist, in fact this is the hardest pregnancy yet! Though I expected it would be harder than 9 years ago! LOL I keep telling myself that even with the stats....as high as 1/20 for downs that I've read...that means 19/20 a-ok. Everything I've read has been mixed regarding risk of miscarriage after seeing a heartbeat.....what's your take on this?

Have felt crampy for about 20 hours now...I hope it's just because I'm at the time when I would've started...am very apprehensive about it. No spotting so I'm just praying and trying to not fixate on it. Anyone else get this?

BabyMakes7, How is everything going for you? How far along are you now? My thoughts are with you. Hoping you have a wonderful and healthy pregnancy so far. Update when you can. Has your cramping subsided? :)

Hi Kristin, thanks for thinking of me and asking! I am doing well. The cramping was at 8 weeks, the time of my 2nd missed AF. I am more at ease now, though looking eagerly to my u/s and nuchal fold testing on Monday. How are you doing? You've been in my thoughts too. Hugs to you, Andrea

Oh and I am at 10w 5d today. I have only told dh am waiting to tell the children after Monday. I hope you're healing emotionally as well as physically, Kristin.

Babymakes7- Good luck at your ultrasound and let us know how it goes. Try to ignore all the hype about moms our age. I am 39 and 33 weeks and fingers crossed, all is well so far. I had cramping in the first trimester in both of my pregnancies and my doctor a__sured me it was normal.

Congratulations on expecting! My mom will be 42 next month & called me this morning to tell me she is pregnant. She's a little concerned because she's had 3 miscarriages so I hope all goes well. It's a little hard to believe because I will be 21 in 2 weeks & my brother is 14. Anyway, good luck!

BabyMakes7- I had the 13 week NT scan and bloodwork. I also had the level 2 scan at 18 weeks. I was fortunate that all came back well. The only issue I had was that the baby appears to have a small spot on his liver. I have another scan at 36 weeks. They can't say what it is, but are not concerned. If there we several it may indicate an infection but they a__sure me that it is not of concern so I am trying not to get freaked out. During my lst pg, I had a bit of scare with a marker for T18 coming up- it was horrible. Long story short, she is perfect and I did NOT get an amnio b/c of the results. The reason I'm telling you this is b/c these are not diagnostic tests and only will calculate a risk so don't freak out if you get a less than perfect result. Sorry to ramble on...

Ramble away! I'm thankful for the info. Why did you decide against amnio with your DD? I am trying to keep it all in perspective :) thanks again for sharing your experience. I feel as if a lot has changed in 9 years!

We decided against the amnio b/c of the risk of miscarriage. If our baby was perfectly fine and we lost her doing an amnio, I would never, ever have fogiven myself. We just felt that if something that serious was wrong with her, we would have had more than one marker and the bloodwork would have shown a risk. I think it was a gut feeling. I did alot of reasearch after that and felt better and better once I found that the marker was a "soft" marker. We had tried so hard for this baby (15 months) that we were not willing to risk losing her. I think as we get older we worry more. If I had been pregnant in my 20's I would not have freaked out about every little thing. I also think the statistics are either extremely outdated for our age group. Im sure your baby will be perfect.

It sure is easy to get freaked out. I always try to remember that overall the odds are in our favor. I don't know the distinction between the markers, Ie what a soft marker is, but maybe that's best. LOL Monday feels like an eternity from now. Going to have to busy myself today. Hope you're all well. A

Had my Nuchal Translucency and first tri screen yesterday. All initial info is GREAT. The NT was under 1mm. The baby had 4 limbs, and looked good to me! I'm waiting on the bloodwork, which they said should be in by the end of the week. The tech gave me a 70% chance of it being a girl...I didn't care either way, but have suspected a girl. My big wish was for a clean bill of health. Hope you're all doing well too! Andrea
