plynn47414, It's always good to know of someone else in a similar situation. It may be a mistake but we have already told everyone. It's so much fun to see the shocked expressions on their faces! lol
I was 14 weeks on Tuesday and we got to hear the heartbeat and even a few sounds the doctor said were baby kicks. I am scheduled for a Level 2 ultrasound on 8/11 and can't wait. I hope you are doing well, too.

Kimcat..I go in for the CVS testing on Monday, so after we get the results from that and if the baby is healthy then we will start spreading the news. I'm not looking forward to telling the family...like you said they will all be shocked but hopefully accepting. How old is your husband? My boyfriend is 50. At first he was very upset, but he has came around in the last 2 weeks. We are both still scared, but I'm hoping that as the pregnancy progresses and we know that I'm healthy and the baby is healthy that we can enjoy this pregnancy. I'm kind of excited about being pregnant after 16 years. I never thought that I'd have another baby. How did your 18 year old take the news?

Hi everyone, it's so helpful to hear all your experiences. I am going to be 38 in Sep, am on my 8th week pregnancy( my first ). So far having some symptoms, discomfort but I am enjoying it. I have few questions, 1st- have you heard that have ultrasounds frequently ( once a week) will harm the baby? I am going for my 3rd ultrasound next week. I have had my 1st one when only 4 weeks 3 days to confirm this is not ectopic, then at 6th week to see the heartbeat. That's why I am worry if this is too frequent. 2nd- is anyone on progesterone? I am on 30mg/day(from my dr.) as my blood test at 6th week show it went down from 24 to 16, is this drug safe for the pregnancy? 3rd-I have been charting my basal body temp since I knew I am pregnant because I heard that if the baby stop growing then your basal body temp will drop. I remembered my last pregnancy, the temp dropped a week before I starting bleeding and lead to m/c . So I will chart my basal body temp till end of 12 weeks. Have you heard about this? Or even the baby stop growing, our hormone will still keep body temp high for a while before it drop? I hope my question does not sound too silly. We all wish everything is going well with our pregnancy, thanks and looking forward to hearing more of your updates!

plynn47414 0 My husband just turned 51 and is still trying to get used to the idea of being a father again at his age. Our daughter is very happy. She loves children and always volunteers to help out with them at church.

Hi PP- Congrats of your pregnancy! I had also heard that there was some talk about ultrsounds being "disruptive" to a fetus. I don't think there was anything conclusive though. I had many many ultrasounds with my last pregnancy (and this one as well) and my daughter was born very healthy. I would not worry about it, just be thankful that your doctor is giving you such good care. I do not have personal experience with progesterone, but alot of women on this board have had to take it to sustain their pregnancies so I would a__sume it is safe. I don't know anything about bbt's either. Again, Congrats to you!

Hey everyone! Dogmom here! This week I am due for my first genetic test. I elected to have the Nuchal Translucency test. I was not going to have any genetic testing done, but when I found out this test has no risk to the baby I said why not. Besides I get to see another ultrasound. I also had a few ultrasounds. 3.5 weeks to check for implantation, 6 weeks to check for the heartbeat and I just had one done this past Thursday. My last ultrasound was amazing!!!!! The baby looked like it was running in place!!!!

40 and pregnant - holy c___p. We talked about it and said we'd try, then wham, first times a charm, I guess. We have a four year old daughter and now I'm regretting this pregnancy; I'm seven weeks and wish I had given this more thought. I don't want to start over again. We have it made right now, sleeping throught the night, just about to start school. It's easier to travel with one and now another one. I don't know what to do, I feel depressed and sad and that's now how I should feel. My husband is totally supportive and just wanted me to be happy, but now he's confused because I'm not happy. Anyone else in this predicament?

Hello Dvdh,
I am 37 and pregnant with our first child. I am very excited about the pregnancy. I guess "ignorance is bliss"! It may not be easy at first, but eventually your two kids will be spending hours playing together and you will eventually have some of your time back. I was 4 when my baby brother came along. I loved helping my mom with the baby! I remember sneaking into his room to watch him sleep at night. Hopefully your feelings of regret are just related to hormones!

Dvdh, I totally understand how you feel. I am 37 daughter is 5 1/2. I've been wanting another baby for years. My husband finally got on board with having another and I am 6 wks along. Now I am thinking "Oh c___p what have I done!" Part of me is thrilled and part of me is filled with doubt and worry. Life is so easy with my daughter, am I ready to do it again? Am I too old to be doing this. Is the age gap between kids too big? My worries go on and on. I am a__suming that it is hormones. I have an u/s next week and am hoping that once I see that peanut on the screen all doubt will go out the door.

Well girls consider yourself very lucky, I have been trying for number two for 4 years and have had 5 losses. I am 39 and Icurrently close to 7 weeks pregnant. Scared and petrified beyound belief, as I know this is my last shot. I would give anything for this to work out, most of all I want a sibling for my 6 1/2 yr old son. I am sure you will change your mind as soon as you see the lil' babe and the heartbeat. Things happen for a reason and what is meant to be will be. Good Luck

Hi ladies! I came on board to say hello some time ago but have been gone because of a house remodel. Now I only have about 4 1/2 weeks to go in my pregnancy. So far so good, blood pressure is low, swelling is minimal and I feel pretty healthy except for a couple of low energy days from time to time (anemia). My doctor is going to try to schedule my c-section for August 19th.***LESLIE: you're due pretty soon too aren't you? How are you and the baby doing? Is anyone else here due pretty soon. ****DENISEB: I am so sorry for your losses. I had a m/c 3 years ago and know how devastating just one is, and multiple losses I'm sure feel worse but I know women in my familly who had multiple m/cs and then went on to have healthy children.

Congrats to all you preggers! Dogmom- good luck at your ultrasound, it is so much fun to see the little one dancing around, I loved it and agree that any non-invasive testing is good to have. Dvdh- I hope your feelings change toward your little one. I think we all have our fleeting moments of "Oh c___p, what have I done". I am not looking forward to the all nighters either, but I think having #2 will be great for my 19 month old daughter. Jds- good luck at your ultrasound! Denise- I am so sorry to hear of your losses, it must be so difficult. Congrats on your pregnancy, I really hope all goes well for you. I'm sure your doctor will be watching you closely this time. Perl- you are so lucky! Good luck, hope you have a smooth delivery. I am only 20 weeks, wich I as where you are! Colleen

Dogmom, let me know how your test goes. I am only two weeks behind you. How awesome to see the little one "running"! I have my 2nd ultrasound on the 29th to determine "growth" and pin down the exact week. Best of luck Dogmom and the rest of you lucky ladies!

Hi Maho!
Thanks for checking in with me. I will definately let you know how my test goes. I am going to stay positive about my "downs syndrome" risk. There is no history of any genetic disorders in both of our families. I know plenty of women who have had babies over the age of 35. All those babies were born perfectly healthy. I really can't stand hearing about the risks over the age of 35. It makes us sound like freaks!!!!! The only positive side to being over 35 and pregnant is the that I get to see my baby more often on the several sonograms.
