Hi, there...I'm new to this post, but I'm thrilled to see moms over 35!
I'm 36 and 13 weeks pregnant. My question to you is your experience regarding weight gain. I was about 15 to 20 pounds overweight when I got pregnant - I am 5'8" and weighed 165 pounds. Now I weigh 180 and only a few articles of clothing barely fit me, for instance, I wear a long shirt/tank top underneath my tops so that my tummy doesn't stick out and I unb___ton the top of my pants. I'm concerned about my weight gain because I see so many pregnant women who talk about how they are 7 months and they've only gained 12 - 15 pounds.
I eat okay - when I first found out I was pregnant, I was elated and scared (I'd had a miscarriage the first time), and I'm an emotional eater, so I ate lots of cookies, etc. Today, I had a big salad for lunch with two cookies. I'm working on the diet part and I go to the gym 4 times a week.
In your experience, how did the weight gain come on? Was it like mine or was is slow and healthier?
My tummy looks like a tummy of fat - because it is! I don't know what my tummy will look like later, if the fat will stretch around the ball of baby or if it will just look fat.
I have my genetic testing this week and I think this is so trivial to think about weight in comparison, but nevertheless, I do.
Thanks, Laurie

Hi Laurie,
I to am a bigger person i am 17 weeks and haven't gained any weight which was advised by my doctor so long as i was eating food from all the food groups and not actually dieting she is helping me maintain my weight as she was concerned with the health risks just talk to your doctor and see what he / she thinks is safe for you we don't work in pounds in australia but i started at 120kg which i think is 240 pounds around so much bigger than you just try and enjoy your pregnancy and relax i think unless you are very overweight most doctors will suggest losing after bub is born hope this helps andrea :-)

Hi, I'm 37 and 13w3d pregnant. I'm from Brazil and my husband is American. All my exams were done in Brazil so far (we were visiting) and now that we are back for a week I'm looking for a doctor in Scottsdale. I'm glad I found this thread to share experiences with you!
