Hello, Hubby and I have decided we're going to give it a try in December. I've been paying more attn to my cycles etc a. to see if I still O, I'm 38, never had a pregnancy (never tried). The one weird thing I was wondering about is On day 12 of cycle (yesterday) I had a bachache and nausea, I had thought before my body does the nausea thing when I'm near O and now I wonder if its a sign of the impending LH surge. I'm seeing my Dr. today because I need to switch from my current hypertension meds to Aldomet and I was wondering if she'd give me a fsh test to see what my levels are. My med history is not pretty...I've had hyptertension since 27, high cholesterol since 28 and pre-diabetic sine 36 (6.2 on last bld test for glucose fasting). I've dropped 45 pounds though since jul of last year and plan on dropping another 25 before "TTC" day - Dec08. This will get me down to 150lb range. PCOS has been bandied about to explain my overall BP, Cholesterol issues but I've never had period problems, currently I have a 26 day cycle, regular +/- 1 day and lasts about 4 days. Thanks for reading, Joanne

Good luck, it sounds like you sure are on the right track. I had my first at 36 and I'm 10 weeks now at 38 soon to be 39. The ovulation predictor kits worked well for me.

Well, my drs appt was a nighmare! it was a reg. pap exam (once per year) this is a new dr. to me as my old one moved to nova scotia. I'd had her since I was 13. lets just say after six attempts, that was the worst pap of my life, i'm just lucky i'm not 16 and think that was normal. anyway, i asked her to stop killing me and now i'm being referred to a gyno, i'll have to discuss my pregnancy q's with the gyno i guess because that dr. is never going to get a speculum near me again. apparently my cervix is tiny and tilted???? can this just happend since last march or is it that my old dr. just compensated and didn't mention it. even the gyno that inserted the mirena coil didn't mention it and that was 5 yrs ago. he just said it was going to be uncomfortable because i'd never had a pregnancy. agh. and it was. but the pap exam yesterday beat that hands down. i was prescribed a pre-natal vitamin though so i'll get on that in the meantime. i had been taking an over the counter one but prob. the rx one is a little better.

Hi - I have two thoughts. First, you probably are ovulating, but buy a test kit to make sure. Second, and more importantly, I think you need to get a new doctor. I could not tell from your post, but it sounds like your regular family dr did the pap, and has now referred you to an ob/gyn? If you want to start TTC and you have medical issues, please go directly to the gyn, and be sure to disclose EVERYTHING. I'm 39 and have a history of MCs and we did tons of tests to figure out why. And they specifically checked for at least one of your issues. Also, the stress of ttc can be huge, and coupled with a bad dr relationship, it is horrible. I just changed drs mid-treatment (day 2 of clomid) and my new dr did the IUI I had scheduled with the old. I am so much happier and relaxed now. Now I get to wait, but it is much better. Good Luck!!!
