I have read in several pregnancy books that it is quite common for older mothers to have light periods for up to 5 months into the pregnancy. I was wondering if that could cause a false negotive in a hpt. Also, I'd like to know if anyone over 35 has had light periods and neg tests, but still was pregnant

Have you only taken the one test? If you have reason to suspect you really are pregnant, maybe you should wait a week or two and test again, or have your doctor test you. It's best to test with the first urine of the day, as soon as you get up.

I've tested several times. All tests have been neg. My abdomen is swollen, my b___sts are bigger, veins everywhere, tired, etc. The first obgyn I went to said I wasn't pregnant and that everything was ok. A swollen abdomen is NOT ok. I have another appt with a diff obgyn next week. Maybe this one will be more thorough.
