If I'm experiencing early signs of pre-menopause is it too late for me to still become pregnant as I'd like to have another child before nature takes full control to take me into the stage of menopause and can I do anything that would help pregnancy occur quickly? I do have va___al dryness quite often but am sonstantly desirering s_x.

Hello Caitlin, What is your actual age? Do you have any other children? Vaginal dryness can be helped along with certain things like Evening primrose oil..and other sperm friendly lubricants. I was recently just reading up on fsh levels and menapause it said many women become very fertile in the pre-menapause state. Bare this in mind and get some bloodwork done to see how your eggs are as well as your other hormone levels this witll give you a good indicationa as to your possibilites to potentially conceive. IF all else fails do your bbt's and have s_x around the 5 days leading up to ovualtion as well as 2 days beyond. Many women who thought there fertile years were closing are pleasantly surprised by a pregnancy. I wish you all the best.

In answer to your questions. I am 49 years of age and have 2 children ages 26 and 27. After their birth I had 2 abortions unfortunately. Also if you would answer this for me going by my answers connected to your response would your answer remain the same and do you still think my chances if becoming pregnant could be possible? Also would you know if a wonan being pregnant at my age could cause any type of a health issue for mother &/or child. I realize you may not be a professional doctor but if you can share with me what you know, I'd be genuinely grateful. Finally you mentioned fish levels, by any chance in the article you read did it suggest anything pertaining to actually taking fish oil as a tablet or liquid including combining it with food containing fish? Your reply would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks.

Caitlin, I am no professional :)..just a women trying to conceive myself..I do read alot about the subject. I am 41. I know myself I am approaching my last years for pregnancy..atleast by industry standards...and this is unfortunate..I was a late bloomer. There are however exceptions for healthy women who do conceive well into their 40's and sometimes 50's so YES it is possible. IT is just may be harder or take longer..if you still have eggs left..and or you are still ovulating there is always a possiblity. As far as "f s h" levels (not fish levels) fsh stands for follic stimulating hormone. A simple blood test on day3 of your cycle can determine your fsh level which should be under 7..but as you age it gets higher or for some other reasons one may have high fsh. The fsh hormone is necessary for egg production. Google "fsh" to further understand it's major role. In a nutshell the fsh determines your ovarian reserve and your egg quality or activity of your egg. ( but don't quote me on that.) I do know it is important. Try google (ing) it to get more info. When were your abortions? WEre they in your 40's? What is the age of your spouse? HAve you had any bloodwork done? Are you being followed by a specialist. i think you should start by taking prenatals especially folic acid. Get your bloodwork done..get an ultrasound and see what's going on with your ovaries. and your tubes AS well to anser the question about risks with age and pregnancy.. there can be issues a__sociated with age and pregnancy. For example pregnancy induced hyper tension, low birth weight, higher probablity of downs syndrome etc. But there are many tests and screenings that can help determine if you would be a risk for that if you do become pregnant. You would be followed closely by your doc as anyone over 40 is considered advanced maternal age. As far as taking fish oil that can be good too..as the omega fatty oils have great health benefits. Many women also take robitussin to help with their v____al lubrication. This makes your cervical mucus more egg white texture. I'm not sure if I am any help but..your story interests me and I truly wish hope you get pregnant if that is your wish. Remember knowledge is key and get prefessional help from a doctor who can guide you..I wish you all the best and feel free to ask away..I will try to help any way I can. Oh one more thing do you take your morning temps? this is called your basal body temp..after ovuation your temp incereases by a couple of degrees..this the only way to tell if you have ovulated. Also go to Fertility Friend and start charting your cycles..this would be a big help to you. Again all the best.
