I'm 28 wks prgnt. Due to my age & the wide age gap between my 1st child and this one, should I seriously consider C-Section?

i had my second with a 16 yr gap as a VBAC. i had prolonged labor but i still had v____al birth - in the end i was begging for a c-section until they gave me the epidural. all i would say is don't be a martyr and go for a pain free delivery if you can - my recovery was slow because i was so exhausted from the labor. the docs have you on high risk anyway. the midwives would have you deliver solo. somewhere in between, you can be source over what happens. good luck - that second child will be a sweetie!

go v____ally.I just had my third child 9 1/2 months ago w/ a three years 8 months gap between kids. I know it is not much but a pg is a pg to your body no matter how far the gap is.

Hi, I had a v____al birth after a 20 year gap... I was terrified of labor, but the epidural was the way to go.. I am again pregnant, 29 weeks I may even possibly try natural this time.......If get to scared the epidural is fabulous.....

No !!! your body was made to give birth. I have 4 children 21, 19, 17 and a 3 year old. There was a 14 yr gap and I was 38 at the time of my last birth. My body knew what to do!

I have 2 children and one in the way! My son and daughter are 12 years apart (13 and 1). I had my son via c-section because he was transverse. I was always told that I could have a VBAC. When I was about 5 months pregnant my doctor informed me that I would have another c-section. I was upset but got over it quickly. The risk were not worth it to me. The trend has gone back to once a c-section always a c-section for most doctors, hospitals and insurance companies. From the research that I did the only rec. was to wait at least 10 months before getting pregnant after a section. So you don't tear. Either way, I don't think that your age or the gap has anything to do with it. Talk to you doctor. If there is a medical reason to have a section then by all means do it. If not go v____ally. A much quicker recovery time. Good luck!

Hani, good luck to you. Looks like we're in the same boat too...although you are considerably further along. Also had my daughter 20 yrs ago...I am 39 now and just pregnant with hopefully what will be #2. Tell us how it goes. I fear VB more now than I used too....just know too much now about all the stuff that can go wrong. Supposedly women over 35 have higher c section rates...but I do think if you have had one successful v____al birth, even if it was a long time ago, you are more likely to have another successful v____al birth if that is what you're hoping for

hani9303....this is my experience only from what happened to ME not to say this is the way it will be for you.....as several before me has said they had baby v____ally after a large gap ..........i had my son at 18 v____ally and he was 15 at the time of my DD birth and my body had forgotten what to do i had to be induced first of all so i went in on a fri night (6pm) and was given cervadil (sp?) to ripen the cervix and get it ready to dialiate....well 1 1/2 hrs after it was placed i started having contractions and the nurse really said that was a good sign that i would have a v____al birth( i was scared to death to have a C) at 5 that morning the doc broke my water and started pitocin well to make a long story short by 3 pm that day(saturday) i was having hard contractions but only dialated to a 2 which is what i was around midnite so the Dr said he needed to do a C and i busted out crying and told him i didnt want one and he explained to me that it had been 15 yrs since i had given birth and my body had forgot what to do basically and i may lay there 20 more hours waiting to dialate and still not have my baby .....and he had already broke my water so we had to do something so i had the c and it wasnt as bad as i have heard ....it was painful dont get me wrong....but i have a healthy happy 16 month old and 25 weeks and 5 days preggo with her baby brother and the dr has said he reccomends a c this time also....so no matter how the baby gets here as long as he/she is healthy its all good!!!!! good luck to you

My son is 20 and I am 40 years old this month and pregnant with number 2. No doctor has even mentioned that there would be any reason for me to have to have a c section. I have a high risk doctor and a regular ob gyn. I have never heard of your body forgetting what to do. What about the women that have their first at 39 or 40. I hope this is not the case. I would rather not go through c - section - but I guess whatever is best for baby and me will work.

My SIL just had her 3rd . She also has a 16yo and an 11yo and she's 42. Her first two deliveries were v____al... about 9-10 hours of labor with each of them... this one she barely made it to the hospital. She delivered in under 3 hours from the time of the very first ctxn. I guess her body has a VERY good memory lol.

I am 39 (I will be 40 in July) and I am currently 32 weeks pregnant with my second child. My first will be 22, just 2 weeks after this one is born. I had a c-section with my first one after 25 hours of labor and no progress. I seriously considered going with a VBAC, but have since changed my mind. My dr said that my recovery should be a lot faster since my body won't be going through the long labor that it did the first time. I feel kinda like a wuss, but I really do feel that it is the right decision for me. Plus I get to have her 8 days early :)

I had my third child at age 43. I gave birth v____ally, naturally. If you can, give birth to your baby instead of having a c-section. Despite being 40, you are a lot stronger than you realize. Congrats to you and best wishes! BTW - I am pregnant again at age 44.
