Prenatal Testing

Hello, Has anyone had the "sequential Screening" test done in place of the amnio? We decided to go with it and now we got back the first results saying that my baby has an elevated chance of having downs syndrome. I am just wondering if anyone else has had the test and how it went. I have been doing research and found out that there are a lot of "false positives" from this test. Also, anyone have an amnio? We may still get one and I am a little concerned about the risks. BYW, I am 12 weeks pregnant. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! thanks ladies! PS-Also it will be at least 6 weeks before we know anything (results from amnio or FINAL results from the sequential) and I am freaking out.

Hi- I don't know what the "Sequential Screening" is, I had the NT (Nuchal Translucency) Screening which consists of a level 2 ultrasound and bloodwork at 13 weeks. I was lucky that all went well this time. The last time I was pregnant I had a false alarm at the 2nd Trimester screening where a soft marker came up for Trisomy 18 (they did not tell me it was a soft marker, they made it seem like it was good possibility). Anyway, my daughter was perfect. We also did not opt for the amnio as we did not want to take the risk. I would think that the 2nd Tri screening would narrow down the risk even more for you. I'm sorry I'm not much of a help, but I do know how you feel.
