Hi guys
I 've been browsing this forum and would like to share my journey with you and to make some new friends along the way.
I have 2 children from a previous marriage a DD 21yrs and DS 14yrs. MY DF is 32 and I've just turned 41 - yikes!! My DF has no children and we are TTC.
I've had some tests and my FSH came back as FSH12 - perimenapausal is said (I had no idea what that meant apart from not being menopausal). I had absolutely no idea - I thought if you had regular periods you were still ovulating. My goodness - I've had a lot to learn.
I'm currently on CD7 and go in tomorrow for an ultrasound to check my eggs and I have other tests to do to - FSH levels on CD2,3,4 and 5. My DF had a SA and we get the results tomorrow. I have an appointment with the Fertility Cllinic on 3 November 2008 where they will be assessing the results of all the tests and hopefully come up with a plan.
I would love to hear from anyone who is in the same boat as me - high FSH or around the same age as it would be great to share our experience and give each other support.
Best Wishes....

Hi november7!!! I also have a high fsh. I'm 36 and have been ttc for almost 2 yrs. I have a DS that is 8 yrs old. My periods were a little irregular and I went to a re when I didn't fall pg. My levels of fsh have been as low as 11.6 ( which isn't that low) and as high as 21!! They say your only as good as your highest fsh score but I hope to beat the odds. I've done pills, injectables and still waiting for that BFP!!! I have been trying to regulate my period and lower my fsh with herbs and acupuncture ( I haven't done injectables or pills for a year). Make sure you get all levels checked like estrogen, progesterone, thyroid, and get a ultrasound to check for fibroids and your egg count. I hope this helps. Don't give up hope!! Baby dust to you!!

Hi Tooth Fairy! Thanks for your message. You're right about the egg reserve as this would be a better indication of fertility. The ultrasound showed that I had 5-6 antral follicles in each ovary with an ovary volume of 11mls in one and 17 in the other. Speaking of fibroids I have 3 or 4 and 1 measures at 1.4 cm. The technician seems to think that it would stop me falling or staying pregnant (?). It probably explains why I also have heavy periods. I still have some test to go. How about you, did you have an ultrasound? Interested to know what CD you're on, I'm on CD14. At 36 you are much younger than me, I'm 41. You are still very young and I'm sure you will get PG, it just takes a little bit longer than when you were younger. Take care and baby dust to you too. Ciao

Sorry Tooth Fairy, I meant to say that the technician said it 'wouldn't' stop me falling or staying pregnant.
