Things That No One Ever Told Us

Maybe we could all share our stories of things we never new would happen to our bodies while being pregnant. Many people have shared their pregnancy experiences with me, but there were a few things they never told me about!
I have heard that it is normal to be constipated during pregnancy....but no one ever told me the complete opposite could happen also!!!!
I try to keep up with regular exercise & I have been slowing down a bit as I get bigger. No one ever told me that I would feel like I need to pee while exercising pregnant......and no one ever told me that sometimes it actually starts to leak out!!!!
Any others out there?

I was peeing all the time, not just when exersising (not that I exersised while pregnant much). Eventually I had to have a pad at all times for leaks.
They don't tell you that when your belly starts pushing upward (happened to me at 37 weeks) it's not just shortness of breath, it's a feeling that you can't breath. Can't get the air in. Very scary. (Alleviated by standing with your arms up).
They don't tell you that during labor not only the baby, but all kinds of stuff is coming out of you (pee, poop).
They don't tell you that your foot size increases (due to having to carry all that weight, probably). My foot size went from 7 to 9 and I can't fit any of my old fancy shoes!
They don't tell (or do they?) that the last few weeks you'll feel so uncomfortable, day and night, that the thought of getting the baby out will be a relief (as opposite of worry at the beginning and in the middle of pregnancy).
They don't tell you that your nipples will get bigger and darker and will stay that way forever, never returning to the young-girl small pinky things.
They don't tell you that the hunger you develop during pregnancy, is very hard to get rid of after pregnancy.

You aren't kidding about the appet_te thing. I find myself eating second breakfast a lot. I lost a lot of my baby weight but it found me again. How about stretch marks on the upper inside of your thighs? I almost freaked out several weeks after I had my son and finally got a gander at that region. And I only gained about 25 pounds during the whole pregnancy but I guess most of it was in my thighs, not to mention my back. Yay. The white discharge was news to me too. And how at about 8 months your belly isn't round anymore but lumpy. I guess I never looked hard enough at a pregnant woman's belly to notice this detail. I also remember thinking how sssllloooww time pa__sed. It felt like I as 7 again and waiting for Christmas and it NEVER would get here. Now I notice how quickly time pa__ses and wish it would slow down again. My little guy is 2 1/2 already and he was that little bump such a short time ago. It's crazy how quickly they grow.

It's true...during pregnancy life slows to the point of feeling like it's at a standstill, but as soon as they're out it's like a soap opera...you blink and Junior is 13!

Oh am i glad i started this post! Nipples stay the same and the hunger does not go away??? Oh no! My pre pregnancy b___st size was bearly a B. That means when my b___st size returns I will be all nipple! Yuck! As for the hunger thing....Maybe dexatrim or some other diet pill could help? I cant stand being a slave to my hunger. Will the hospital allow you to use an enema before delivery to help avoid some of the pooping while pushing?

They don't tell you that you will forget of nipples and how YOU look the moment you have this miracle thing.
Diet pills... Are you going to b___stfeed? If yes, you surely wouldn't want all those chemicals going straight into the baby's mouth?
If you are going to b___stfeed, the nipples will have the best shape for the baby to eat - looking like a bottle. The longer you b___stfeed, the longer they will look like a bottle. The b___sts may return eventually to the pre-pregnancy size, but they may not. If that hunger thing keeps on going, the b___sts will stay bigger just like the rest of the body.
Yes, the fat appeared on the back, too. That's so yucky. My kids are 3y8mo and 5yo. I have to get myself in shape finally.
Enema in the hospital? I don't know, but when in labor, everything will be so tight down there. The observing nurse by your bed is supposed to take care of these things, she'll wipe whatever's coming out. Nothing to be ashamed of. Hospital discourages eating for this reason, probably, but if you were to have a midwife, she'd be encouraging eating, to keep you strong. Eating means pooping, nothing unusual there.

Love this post! Nobody tells you that when you have surprise sneezes you will more than likely wet yourself. Also that brushing your teeth will result in gagging or more peeing. I think the gas is the worst. My god, in the morning I have to hide from dh for the first few hours! Well my b___bs were always a pathetic A and I b___stfed for 3 months and although they got nice and firm and perky, they went right back to the original barely-existant A. I was able to lose all the weight by my 8 week postpartum OB visit (which I attribute to nursing 24/7, not sleeping and barely eating) but yes, over the course of the year, I gained back another 10 lbs. Oh and I had a c-section and they withold food until you "pa__s gas" so after 24 hours, I was willing to tell them anything just to get something to eat! And here I am doing it again....

OMG! This is a funny thread. Have any of you read Jenny Mccarty's Belly Laughs? That is pretty direct in some of the most unpleasant topics. Also, in the Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy. Both are pretty funny. Me- I sure can eat- even when I'm not even hungry. Went to my sis's last night and tried to decline dinner. Steak, potatoes, veggies... though I went ahead and ate it anyway. Then continued to have pear pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert. And, I wasn't even hungry.... But yet, I can still shovel it in!
