Women Over 40 And Pregnancy

Hi all,
This is highly embarrassing but I am a 39 year old woman never married and still very much single. I would like to have a child or two one day but my chances of that happening is very slim as time moves on. I have a regular menstrual cycle every 27 to 29 days, never missed a period or been on the pill but reading the high complications that woman over 40 experience scares me. At what age is it impossible to conceive naturally? Many thanks ladies..........................

My mother conceived naturally at 46 and had my brother at 47. He is 19 years old now and just fine. If you are in good health per your Dr., I bet you'll be fine. The reason I say that is (maybe TMI, but...) my mother is an alcoholic and was drinking heavily and not eating right at all throughout the pregnancy and amazingly, her and my brother were both fine, advanced maternal age and all. Fortunately, she finally quit the drinking right after he was born. I had my first child at 39.11 months, LOL. My blood pressure was a little high but not too scary and I had a cesarean due to a previous fibroid surgery but otherwise all was just fine. Good luck!

I just found out that I am pregnant 2 days before my 44th birthday last wednesday. I wasn't TTC, it was a total accident!
I have to wait for confirmation from the doctor next week, but he seemed to think that everything would be fine. Only time will tell I guess, I am still in a total state of shock.

gwizg - I'm not a doctor or anything and I would imagine it would not be impossisble to conceive naturally unless you have problems - and it sounds like you don't. By the way, my cousin gave birth to her fist child at the age of 41, he was a perfectly healthy baby and their were no complications. Good luck to you!
