I am 35 and pregnant with my first child, by doctor wants to induce labor on my due date just because of my age, even though my pregnancy has been going great and there are no problems, I was wondering if any of you have had the same experience or not

No, I have never heard inducing because of age?? that is just ridiculous. Unless you have high blood pressure, low amniotic fluid, or some other reason. But doctors so things all the time that baffle my mind. Good luck. Btw 35 is young.

I agree with Kristin, docs think they are better than mother nature and without an intervention on their behalf, women are unable to birth naturally. If you just read some stories in the "labor" section, women are induced all the time because the baby is too "big" or too "small" or whatever and in the end the baby is just fine. The trauma of being induced and the horrible strain that it puts the baby through, let alone the risk of ending up with an epidural or worse, a c-section should be taken seriously into consideration. Believe me, you will go into labor if you just wait..

I went into labor on my own with my dd and delivered fine at the ripe "old age" of 36. No mention of induction due to age, etc...

How close to your due date are you now? Maybe they are "offering" that to you as an option. Some docs want to let their patients know that they will induce if the patient wants that...there are many people for induction because they can "plan" that way.
I'm not one of the those - I am all for my body being ready and letting things happen naturally - unless of course Mom or the baby are at risk from waiting!
