Try to calm down. Why was your last pregnancy high risk? I had my first baby at 36 and just had my second (and last) at 39. When I initially went to the doctor with my age concerns, my OB told me not to worry, "this is the very best time to be pregnant over 35" meaning that there is alot better info out there now than years ago as well as better screenings and nutritional information. There is no reason to believe that you will have a less than healthy pregnancy just b/c you are 35. Typically it takes a little longer to become pregnant once you hit 35 and there is only a SLIGHTLY increased risk overall for Down Syndrome. They also say over 40 is when Chromosome problems are increased. I'm sure your baby will be fine once you get past the first trimester which is when most losses occur (at any age) that cannot be prevented.

Thanks clindholm for the advice i have hypertension that makes me high risk i controlled it through the last pregnancy though and wasn't induced until 2 weeks before my due date. no other problems .

I am sure everything will be fine for you take care of yourself and enjoy baby no 4. It is nice to know other mums have big gaps also. My three older girls are turning 18 15 and 12 around the time this little person is due so hope i remember all i need to know, take care.

mz gemini- I too had the Pregnancy Induced Hypertension with both of my pregnancies. My 1st dd was born at 36 weeks and was 4 lbs 4 oz and perfectly healthy. My ds was just born on 10/23/08 at 33 weeks and was 4 lbs 6 oz but had to remain in the NICU for awhile. Just be aware that since you had PIH before, the risk is slightly more this time. I'm sure you will be monitored closely. Try to relax and take it day by day, the doctors and hospitals are really great with high risk pregnancies these days. Please check back and let us know how it goes. Good luck!
