I'm 40 years old. I have 3 children 21,18, 12. I've been TTC for 6 months now and nothing is happening.. I've been checked for infertility and everything is fine. Mate's sperm count is fine and we have s_x during my ovulation period every other day and nothing is happening.. I'm really getting depressed about this and that may be part of the problem.. Can someone out there please help me.. My doctor has prescribed clomid and I'll start that next month if I don't conceive this month.. This is my ovulation week...

Quite possible that it is just not in your life's plan to have another child? If it's meant to be, it certainly will be. Maybe you are trying to hard.

Clomid is no good - May 12

You need to study up on Clomid! I have read terrible things about it. Go to ask.com and type in "Is clomid safe? You will see what it is. It can cause birth defects and other things I think. Just check it out BEFORE you start taking it!

Unfortunately, after the age of 35, you don't have as many eggs as you used to and the chances of having 'good' eggs become slimmer with as well. I had a miscarriage in 2002 and wanted to get pregnant again asap...it got to the point where i started thinking that it just wasn't meant to happen and finally accepted it. (i already had 4 kids) After i stopped 'trying' so hard it finally happened! It took just over 12 months to get pregnant again. Try not to think about it too much and become too anxious about it. Good luck.

I know your clock is ticking but It took me about 1 year to get pregnant, I am 35. After only 6 months of trying it is too soon to tell if there are any issues. Have hope and faith that you will be able to get preggers soon! Much baby dust to you, Melanie!

I'm also 40 and ttc with 2nd husband. My kids are 19, 16 and 14. I have all my kids with me. Their dad lives in another state. It was a really sad marriage. I tried very hard but my ex-husband could not stay faithful. He is 45 and just married his girlfriend who is 25. But my life has been tremendously blessed with my husband now and we would be so happy to have a baby together. We also have full custody of his 13 year old son. We have an extremely happy family life and a baby would be a blessing to all of us. I did have an early misscarriage is December and have not been able to conceive since then. My cycle is like clockwork and I am ovulating according to the Dr. My husband has no problems either. It is funny beacuse after my divorce I went to my Dr. to have my tubes tied and he would not do it. He said that I might meet someone new and want another child and he was right. I have been a little sad about not getting pregnant again after the mc but I think I'm going to start focusing on the fun summer ahead and enjoy life. I ovulated this past week. This may seem silly but I just know I'm still not pregnant. The worst part is this will put me having my period during memorial day weekend...YUK.

This is truly a coincidence. I miscarried in Dec also. And I have to been able to conceive since then.. My mate is 29 and all of a sudden last night he tells me that he doesn't want anything to do with me and if I'm pregnant he doesn't want anything to do with the baby either. he said, without hesitation, leave me the "f" alone.. I would be expecting my cycle on the 28, now I don't know what to do.. Please help me I'm very depressed...Melanie.

I fell pregnant on my first course of chlomid, with no problems and had a beautiful daughter, hope the same goes for you!

sue - May 17

By the way chlomid doesn't cause birth defects I don't know where the other lady got her information from. The only risk is a very slight chance of a twin pregnancy.

I was told to take Estrogen pills for menopause for one month, and then it's easier to get preg. Birth control pills also raise your estrogen. it causes zits, too.

Melanie, Sorry I'm just now posting back but I have been too busy to log onto the computer. I'm so sorry about your miscarriage in December and your relationship problems with your mate. I was married to a man for 19 years who talked to me the way your spouse talked to you and I thought I had to stay in the marriage because it was the best thing for my children. With my second marriage I have found out that marriage is a wonderful beautiful thing that is full of MUTUAL love and respect. Don't get me wrong, when I was separated from my first husband, the rejection and pain was almost unbearable. My strong spiritual faith took me through each day, moment by moment. Be strong and know that no matter what, even if you are pregnant you can come through this. Think positive and pray for God's help.

Cant see why you are getting clomid if the doctor cant find any problem. Perhaps give it one shot, think it is ok if not used for too many cycles. Estrogen is c___p, it is estrogen dominance that causes fertility problems. Try progesterone cream/suppositories ... it does work, get it from your doctor not over the counter and use for the second half of cycle. Worked for me and I am past 40.

i have come off the contraception injection now for 1 year i was on it for sbout 1 and a half year and i can't seem to concieve?

Charlene - July 6

Melanie, Have you tried using the CM to determine ovulation? Perhaps there has been a change in your mucous over the last few years. Might be something to check into. It is hard not to focus on the 'trying" and definitely easy to get oneself depressed. The waiting is a killer!! Good luck to you

Good News, I'm pregnant!!!! I found out a couple of days ago and I was so excited I forgot to post. The clomid worked on the 1st round.

Melanie, That is awesome - hope all goes well. This is my third shot at pregnancy. i miscarried once and an ectopic the second- and lost a tube. I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to get pregnant. Now I am 5 weeks 2 days and lucky me, but yesterday I got to experience my first bout of nausea - Chinese Food and I just do not agree right now - it was awful :( All the best!!!!
