I talked to my mom about it, but she believes my doctor is right for some reason... and it takes 3 weeks to make an appointment, she said that by then it won't even matter because I'll either already have popped or be like two weeks away from it. She said she would talk to my doctor about a compromise due date so I'll shut up about it haha. We're going to ask him if I haven't had her by June 10th if I can be induced. I don't think I'll make it to then though... I'm even concerned that I won't make it to May 30th. The pills he gave me don't work at all and my contractions, though not consistent, are pretty painful... They feel like period cramps. I was reading the May Mommies thread in the third trimester forum, it seems I'm more prepared than the ones who are due in just a few weeks.

PreciousBaby19 - May 4

yeah its normal to have the 14 day thing...however i've been in a lot of tests where most people dont have a 28 day cycle anymore. I dont have one...i have about a 38 day cycle...and most women like myself do not ovulate 14 days before..thats why i never say that 14 days before...because most women these days are finding out that their periods are getting longer...also womens periods are getting longer..its a fact these days. and they have been doing more tests on it. i dont mean that everyone isgoing to go through this or to have this...but not everyone has the 14 day cycle...a lot is changing..

angelmonkey - May 4

i know alot of women have longer cycles but surly if u O later than 14days before your next period the egg wll not have time to implant. i always thought u have af 14days after u ovulate!?! but im confused on why that has anything to do with how long your cycles are. you can ahve a 30day cycle but still ovulate 14days before afcomes?

PreciousBaby19 - May 4

14 days is actually the luteal phase.....however, I happen to have an 18 day luteal phase...some women can have a longer luteal phase depending on their body and their period.

PreciousBaby19 - May 4

Luteal Phase Length The length of the first phase (pre-ovulatory) can vary within a woman's cycle - but the luteal phase usually remains the same. Ovulation can be delayed by a number of factors....stress, illness, medication, heavily increased activity, etc. Even if you do not ovulate around the normal time period - in knowing the length of your luteal phase you are aware of exactly when your menstrual period is due. This discounts the belief of those say they always have "late periods". If they were charting they would realize that actually it was just their ovulation being delayed and they were not late at all. A normal luteal phase is approximately 12 - 16 days and needs to be at least 10 days for implantation to take place. A short luteal phase can cause fertility problems making it difficult for a women to get pregnant. Identify Pregnancy Since a woman's luteal phase is very consistent you may watch the length of your luteal phase to identify success in conception. For example, if your luteal phase is usually 12 days and never more than 13 and you are at day 15 of your luteal phase and menstrual period has not arrived, there is a very good possibility that pregnancy has occurred.

PreciousBaby19 - May 4

How do I determine the length of my luteal phase? The only way to determine the exact length of your luteal phase is through hormone-specific blood tests. What if I don't know the length of my luteal phase? If you are not sure about the length of your luteal phase, you can a__sume it is 14 days (the average length for most women).

angelmonkey - May 4

can u tell how long you lp from knowing the exact day of O and then counting thedays untill af = the lenght ofyour lp? for example i O,d on cd11 this month say af comes on 14th which is when shes due i would have 18day lp? i dont know i,ve confused myself now lol

PreciousBaby19 - May 4

look at it this way....you body is controlled by your hormones...for half your perid cycle you release one hormone and for the other half another....right..well in women who have longer cycles..t takes longer for them to release the correct hormone....now when you have the 14 days before the next period which is your luteal phase....which you also need a certain hormone for..now if someone has a a problem releasing the correct hormone or mybe takes longer to start the switch can lengthen the lutealphase out..which means its not always the 14 days like normal. I know i have about an 18 day one...its also determines your tubes and how long they are...i know its 18-19 one month and then my other one is about 16-17...which means one side is a bit shoter than the other. There are tons of different factors and no one can know exactly their luteal phase without blood tests but most just a__sume its 14 days before because those women all had their blood tested in trials...n such. But now with more studies they are finding out that periods aren't the normal anymore..and that things are changing a bit.
