PUPPP

Does anyone have PUPPP, or had puppp? I think i am starting to get it. Last night i was waking up all throughout the night itching my stomach like crazy and i had a rash like redness on my stomach and then earlier today it wasn't bad at all. Now tonight i cant stop itching it and its starting to itch on my chest... anyway, what can i do to relieve the itch and pain. I know there are certain creams and stuff you cant use because it absorbs into the skin and goes to the baby and harms her. My doctor ran a blood test today to see if i have it but i dont know what i can use meanwhile. I CANT STOP ITCHING IT! What really sucks is that i am only 32 weeks, most women get it later in their pregnancy and they dont have to deal with it as long. So if i really do have it, i have to itch, and have tender sensitive skin for 2 months. I am so not looking forward to that! :(

I got it right around 30 weks. I had horrible rash like bumps that appeared on my stretch marks. I also had a weird rash under my b___bs. The one under my b___bs was a yeast infection which went away with some monistat cream. The other the doctor said was PUPPP. He gave me some cream which took most of the itching and all of the rash away. However, it comes back every few days, but the cream clears it up. I don't know what is in the cream- he said it is a mixture of lotions and it cost an arm and a leg. I heard that there is some soap you can buy that is much cheaper, smells, but works wonders for PUPPP. It's called Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap and you can get it at a GNC or other health product/food store. When i first got the rash i posted the same question on here and a lot of people recommended that soap.

I had it with my DD, and it started early as well, and I had tender stretch marks, and no matter how i scratched it was like I couldn't get the itch, like it was UNDER where i was scratching, it drove me crazy, and yes it interupted my sleep, i found the best things for it, was an oatmeal bath to sooth my skin, and oatmeal lotion, and NOT letting my shirt touch my belly, that made it worse and after a while my shirt touching my belly drove me insane, like it felt restricting or something...so at home i would wear my shirt tied above my belly and in public i just had to deal...of course i would recommend trying KMOSELLE's idea since i too had heard about it, i just never tried it...

OH I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!! I had it with both of my pregnancies. My doctor had my LFT's checked which were through the roof so the proper diagnosis was then Cholestasis. Please make sure you get checked for this because if it goes undiagnosed it can be very harmful for baby. My itching started both time at around 30-31wks first in hands and feet then then would spread to the rest of my body, it nearly drove me insane!! After they discovered my LFT' s were elevated I had to have weekly ultrasounds and heart monitoring every 2nd day to make sure bub was alright. They also had to put me on medication that although make me feel ill, it decreased the levels of my LFT's enough to get me to 38wks to safely be induced to have my bubs. I found that I relieved the itching by bathing in Pinetarsol which is usually used for children with chicken pox. If you do have cholestasis and they put you on the meds that I had, it takes the itching away also. Hope this helps and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy

My Dr. prescibed steriods and on 6day it was almost cleared, but BOY I was MISERABLE for 2 weeks,i was 38-39wks. use products with no strong fragrance, also on some spot u can try diaper rash cream that will also help..it helped me.. Talc_m powder or Oatmeal will also help..Try to keep the area dry. And ofcourse use Humidifiers if you live in cold region. Hopeful this will help.
