Mommy in May
My best friend in Michigan is coming down here April 1st and throwing me a baby shower. I know about it and helping plan it, is that weird? LOL.

May Mommy, I think Nali is a pretty name! I've never heard it before.
And Missie, that's funny about the diaper duty. I mean, diaper duty pretty much falls on the mommy anyway, doesn't it? At least maybe you'll get a month off with the bet you've got going. Maybe I should make a deal like that with my husband. If we have a boy, he'll be so tickled he'd probably agree to anything. On the other hand, trying to wake him in the middle of the night to change a diaper would probably be more work than just changing it myself. :-)

Oooo... Mommy recliners! Sounds exciting! Hubby and I got in a freakin agrument last night before bed, so I didn't sleep much either... =( Ugh... MEN! Nali is such a pretty name Mommy in May! I wish I could be more creative like that! We're naming her Lucy after my grandma, and Allyssa after my younger sister.
My shower is this weekend, and forecast says its supposed to rain here in New Mexico! =( I hope it doesn't interfere thought.
I have an appointment in the morning with my midwife for the normal measurements and things... then my weekly BPP with a specialist... Wednesdays are busy busy! You ladies have a wonderful Tuesday!

Jessica, llmommy and JackinnLucy: thanks for the name compliment. Since we made it up, it does not have a meaning so it makes it quite special as well. I do really like the name Lucy. That was on our list as well... I hope it fits her when she comes out :) Missie: I don't think it is wierd at all that you know about the shower. My mother and my mother in law are the one's throwing mine next weekend and I am a huge part of it. I like things done a certain way especially when it comes to parties as I am an event planner! So I am helping with everything. I think you should help your friend plan the party (she may like it or not) but that way things are exactly how you want them. Afterall, the party is for you and your wee one!! JackienLucy -- I hope you don't get rain on your shower!! Is it an outside event?? When is your due date?

I agree Lucy is a great name!
Diaper duty bet....Nice!!! LOL Since I'm having to have another c/s this time around, at least DH will be on diaper duty for a few days. I'll take it. =)
Jackie, I'll be thinking "rain rain go away" thoughts for you this weekend. In fact send it down here to Texas. We're parched!
Jackie, good luck at your appointments. Do you enjoy having a midwife? Is this who will deliver the baby as opposed to an OB?
I have my 28 week appt tomorrow and I'm sooo afraid of getting on that dang scale. I just know I've put on more than the alloted 4 lbs a month. Ugh! But at least this marks the start of every two week appts. Call me weird, but I quite enjoy going to see the OB (when I'm pregnant, only! LOL)

My best friend loves the fact that I'm involved. We are even saving money by making the food ourselves. I love to bake and cook so this will be great!
Also, was wondering if you guys have this same problem. The baby loves my right side, especially right underneath my ribs and has used them as a boxing match. Any ideas on how to alleviate the uncomfortableness I feel due to this?

Thankfully the shower is indoors! But still! Who wants to go out in a thunderstorm? I sure don't! Lol...
Mommy in May, my due date is May 7th... but I think she'll come sooner!
And the way my midwife's office works is kind of stupid to be honest! The midwife I see is only on call Monday's and Wednesday's, so if I go into labor any other day, I'll have some one else delivering my baby. =( I realize everything about me will be in my chart and such, but it just won't be the same! My family says too, that I won't even care who delivers my baby when the time comes... but I dunno... It would make me feel better NOW, knowing she's gonna be there. We go through this looonnnggg journey together, then she isn't even the one to deliver Lucy. Eh, kind of p__ses me off you know?
Jessica, I'll send the rain to you on Saturday, if you send it back Sunday! He he... we're parched too!
I've been a main part in planning my baby shower too! Its pretty much my mom and I doing everything... going shopping Thursday, and cooking Friday... =) are you ladies having a big shower?

Oh baby showers are so fun! I can not wait for mine. My fiance and I are going for our "maternity pictures" this weekend so I am looking forward to that. I feel your pain on the kicking the ribs on the right side. It is like a burning sensation. I have also felt her lodge her foot in between my ribs. Not so fun. My little one never stopped moving yesterday and the kicking has gotten painful!! I hope she is just busy and nothing is wrong. Is okay that she moves around ALL day!? It is amazing how before, when I was not pregnant, any little aches or pains were ignored. Now, ANY little thing, I think "omg, what is that, should I call the doctor, is she okay?" That is just the mother instincts coming out I guess. Gotta protect these little ones!! I have had painful gas the last few days as well, anyone have any ideas on how to remedy that without drugs??! JackienLucy -- I know how you feel about your midwife delivering your babe. I have a great doctor and my fiance and I really like her, but like your midwife, she only works certain days. So, if I go into labor when she is not there, then I get someone else. I really do not like that one bit. But I guess like your friends told you, in the moment, we probably will not care, just want to meet our daughters!! And what about this b___st milk? Is it a lot??? I am wondering if my milk will come in as my b___sts have not changed AT ALL since I found out I was pregnant. I was hoping for bigger ones, but nothing has changed!! Only got up once last night to pee!! :)

Missie, my LO likes to chill on my right side as well, but I haven't been honored with those rib kicks yet. Every U/S shows the babe all curled up like a ball with legs and arms by the head. The weird movements for me are those down low, as if the baby is trying to dig its way out of my cervix. Ouch. What position are all your babies? Mine has been head down since like week 15 and hasn't shifted. I hope that's comfortable for him/her :)
Jackie that's amazing about the b___st milk coming in already. With my first, my bbs didn't really change but like maybe one cup size through my whole pregnancy. I was smallish to begin with, so my DH and I really enjoyed them while they lasted. haha. But after DD was born, hello!!!! My milk came in like 5 days after.
MIM (mommy in may) I have days like that where it seems the LO doesn't take a break and other days where I can definitely see down times. I'm thinking its all good. They like to see an active fetus. But I agree, it can get out of control sometimes, like they're having a kickboxing workout that doesn't quit. I am enjoying the alien rolls. I just love watching my belly squirm and trying to figure out the body part. Yesterday i caught a foot in my hand or something, but the baby wasn't having it and jerked it away. haha
Gas: Ugh...one of pregnancy's nice little gifts, eh? I think there are things you can take. I have a list my OB gave me, but aside from non-medical methods, I'd just say try cutting out on some dairy. I know that helps me. I also take TUMS for the extra calcium as my OB said this was ok. Oh and I heard just doing smaller meals and cutting the culprits like beans, broccoli and cabbage would help.
My big thing is nose congestion. I feel like I can hardly breathe sometimes and wake up feeling stuffed up pretty bad.
Ahh..baby has the hiccups right now. anybody else feeling these?

Jessica: Thanks for the advice -- those are some things I will try. Yes I can relate to the stuffy nose. When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is jump in a hot shower. The steam really helps to get the fluids moving! Then I just b__w and b__w til I can actaully breathe!! I have notice more nose bleeds as well as gum bleeding!! My book says this is all normal right now. Okay!!! Whatever they say. I guess our bodies are just confused!! Ladies what does DH stand for? Sorry, I am new to this!! The other's, I think I have pretty well figured out! Also, I know this is gross... but we are all going through the same thing. I have had really loose stool's since pretty much the beginning of my pregnancy. I talked to my doctor and she gave me some tips on how to "stiffen them up" but that does not work. I have not seen a solid stool since August I think. Does anyone else have this problem, well I guess it is not a problem, more of an annoyance... ?! Also, has anyone done a 3D ultrasound yet? My doctor said she will schedule one at my next appointment! I am super excited but wondering if insurance will cover something like that?!?

Hello you wonderful women,
I am due to give birth to my son, Jonas, on May 20th. This is my first pregnancy and I have gained about 33-35 pounds already. My doctor told me not to get too worried because I was a bit lighter than they preferred pre-pregnancy, but of course I am concerned. How can I not be? I have large amounts of fat in my thighs and hips now! Well, it's worth it, but I know I am going to be very concerned with getting my pre-pregnancy form back after my little sweet pea is born.
Another major concern is that so far everything has gone so well. I stress out wondering about what if something goes wrong. What if my two ultrasounds didn't catch something? What if, what, what if?!? I know this is normal.
Good luck to all of you May mommies! I am sure that you, like me, cannot wait to meet your child.

Jac
I understand about the weight gain. I was in the process of losing weight when I got pregnant and have gained about 25lbs. Every Time I go into the Dr's and see the numbers go up, I get a little panic attack. But I know once the baby comes, I'm gonna kick it in gear and lose that weight LOL

MIM, DH stands for Darling Husband or Dear Husband, depending on which site you google. :)
I gained a whopping 50 lbs with my DD, but I was also coming into it underweight, so it was wayyy more than I wanted to gain, but I enjoyed my first pregnancy immensely, as far as letting myself eat a little more. This time around, I'm trying to be better and am gaining less, but I still wouldn't stress about it. Once baby is out, then it's hard core back to pre-preg body.
MIM, I'm getting the gum bleeding too! I laughed when you said our bodies are confused. I think the term is "placenta brain" :P
As far as the runs, mine are the opposite. I have had more constipation and sometimes it down right hurts to go to the bathroom. I'm eating more fiber and that seems to be helping, but double blah!!!
Welcome Jac!
So I have to share this story. We ask my DD last night if she wants a baby brother or sister and she sort of looks at us like, Does not compute. So I ask her, do you want a boy or girl baby? And she shakes her head back and forth and says, "NO BOY, NO BOY!!" So I guess my daughter is going through an anti-boy phase. :) We'll be happy no matter what we have. Healthy is what we want, but deep down I know we would like one of each.

I hate the stuffy nose thing, too! It's not all the time, and not usually too bad during the day, but a lot of times it gets all stuffed up the instant I lay down to sleep at night. Sometimes using another pillow to get my head higher will help, but other times there's nothing I can do but breathe through my mouth.
Constipation is more my thing than loose stools. It's not too bad, as long as I don't let things get out of hand. I've noticed that often, a big bowl of raisin bran and a few cups of decaf green tea will get things moving along.
I'm getting my 3d ultrasound tomorrow. I've never had my doctor give me a 3d one. But I have a friend who works at one of those non-medical 3d places, and I think she's going to do the ultrasound for free. (Though we offered to pay.)
Jessica, that's funny about your daughter wanting a girl. My oldest daughter has said a few times that she wants a boy, but last night when I asked, she said she wanted a girl. It's so funny to see how she's taking this whole thing. She talks all the time about how I'm going to go to the doctor, and the baby is going to come out. She points to various things, and says, "that's for after the baby is born." So I think she has at least some idea of what's going on.
Jac, welcome! I wouldn't worry too much about the weight gain. I work a bit at losing the weight after each pregnancy, and it does come off. Breastfeeding helps. Doesn't it take like 500 calories a day, or something? That's gotta do something. I'm no dieting and exercise nut, either. It takes me about nine months, but the weight eventually goes down to normal.
In today's toddler news, my oldest daughter is finally starting to take to potty training! WooHoo! She decided yesterday that she needed to go poo-poo, so she climbed up on the "big potty" all by herself, and did her business like a big girl. I didn't have to prompt her or anything. (And our big potty doesn't even have a special seat for her. She just sort of hung herself over the edge.) She's been somewhat resisting the potty training for a while now, so this is big news. And those of you that don't have older children, just look what fun you have to look forward to! :-) I hope that we can get this mostly out of the way before the new baby is born. I don't want to have three kids in diapers at the same time!

jessica: thanks for your DH answer. I guess I will have to use DF for Darling Fiance. And I am guessing that DD stands for darling daughter not designated driver? :) I guess those days are over for now... llmommy: I want to hear about your 3D. My sister had one done for her first and he came out looking just like it!! It is crazy what they can do these days. I am excited to get mine done. And congrats about your daughter doing the potty training! You go girl! My mother always used to give my brother and I a "treat" everytime we went on the toilet. It does not have to be a big thing but we caught on right away...good luck at the doc's tomorrow! Jac: Welcome! I would not worry about the weight either. Gaining weight is inevitable and I think we just need to listen to our bodies. They will let us know what the baby needs by cravings, being full, etc. But yes, "watching" the weight is a good idea. It is just part of this beautiful process! I go back to the doctor next Tuesday and really do not want to get on the scale. I think that is why we do not have one at home :) I would probably be on it most of the time. But I think I am doing really well with my weight. I have a girl friend who is also 29 weeks and she can not see her toes. I can still see my beautiful pedicure just fine when I look down :) Which by the way, pedicures, are wonderful especially when pregnant. We gotta treat ourselves... we are making humans!! No peeing more than twice tonight ladies!!
